Serious question, my bender is top scorer on a average town team. Blows everyone away on the team. What’s wrong with him getting all the scoring opportunities and play making opportunities on town vs jointing a decent club team and him only getting half the opportunity vs competition that is a bit better? Wouldn’t you want the more opportunities heading into high school hockey?
Yes. Absolutely!

I had a freshman last year tell me he scored 55 goals on his town B Team.

I asked him if he knew how many goals I scored on my town B team team ?

I told him zero. I never played town B.

But maybe you can tell everyone that story when you are walking the stands collecting for our 50/50 raffles during the games you won’t be dressing in.

The problem is he is not challenged. He needs to be challenged to get better. We have a player on our team that was the top scorer for his Platinum team for the past 3 years. He has moved up to Elite and though he still scores he has to work a lot harder which is building his ability and hockey IQ.

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

No it’s like town a caliber. And he is playing against ehf players on other teams when they have the dates open for town. So what’s the difference. Hasn’t hit puberty so should it matter at this point?

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

Keep him where he is. Why it matter now. Go play town HS and smile

Duh

In most of the better D-I high schools a Town only kid will barely, if ever see varsity ice. Occasionally a popular, great athlete will make these teams but still only skating during garbage time.

The difference is the speed of the game. Go watch a Town practice and then watch a select team practice or game. Many Town only kids show-up to high school hockey and they are blown away with the speed of the other players.

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

Keep jointing man, then kick back and enjoy a bag of chips while your bender crushes those breakaways! It's better entertainment than Wizard of Oz and Dark Side of the Moon.

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

If he makes the EHF Elite move him. If he doesn't stay where you are he's a stud house league player which will equal JV H.S. hockey and maybe a ride on the pine senior year if the coach thinks he is a really nice boy!!!!

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

Correct!

I love these posts that insinuate Varsity rosters are only made up of EHF Elite kids. My favorite time of hockey season is the week or so post Thanksgiving when the frosh & soph dads are standing at the glass during tryouts in their EHF jackets bragging to other parents about MHR rankings and tournament wins. Then the roster list comes out and some rainbow/phl kid makes varsity ahead of their stud.

To the OP the only thing correct is the game is much faster and much more physical than anything you'll see at VHL. Move your kid so he has a few years to develop, ramp up off season so he's working out with players bigger, faster, and stronger and just enjoy the ride.

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

Keep at it.. my kid is older and playing similar brand. Got lots of opportunities for high end hockey next year.

Rage against the machine

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

He gets more ice and more puck time and is allowed to be creative. His buddy plays ehf and has one role on the team. If he strays he gets benched a shift. My kid plays every position and can be creative.

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

let me take a stab at this, no defense against him? How is that good for development?

Re: Pee wee minor stud!

He's the best of the worst.
Which means he sucks but not when surrounded by garbage.
