Re: From High School board but worth the read

Anon
Interesting Article on Cole Caulfield. The Utica Commets sent out a tweet the other night about Caufield, a 20 Year old man with unlimited access to Sports Psychiatry, Mental coaches, etc..and the hockey world lost their minds, questioning the professionalism of the team, questioning if Caufield\'s mental health will be ok, etc.. Yet here in NE we have Prep Coaches consistently only praising certain players, daily articles written based on complete biases, adults posting videos on how much better selected players are than others and NOBODY asks how it affects the mental health of a kids, the 15-19 year old\'s who are always grinding and who are always overlooked because they are on the wrong teams or dont have the right connections or website subscriptions. NEHJ, NZ, Prep Coaches, take a look in the mirror, you are not doing any of these young men a service, your adults, your should understand what\'s happening. If your a Coach, then Coach your complete team. If you need to write articles, write articles based off of facts, actual data facts from a game. Thank GOD my son went the baseball route, cant make s hit up. He hit or he didn\'t hit, he caught the ball or he didn\'t catch it, there was nothing left for bias interpretation, it was all data.
In that way, baseball, or golf for that matter, is 1000 times better than hockey. You can hit or you can't, you can shoot low or you can't. Hockey is a messed up swamp most of, not all, what matters is who your parents are and who you know.

Re: From High School board but worth the read

Nobody gave your bender any shine. We get it. Good luck to your kid on the diamond, hope he fairs better there. But those parents and coaches are every bit as whacko as hockey folk.

Re: From High School board but worth the read

uhmm...it's called being a parent. Help them understand that people are not always going to say nice things about you. What happens when they are 18 and adults?

So HockeyDude, you don't see an issue with this? A 20 year old man in the NHL gets 1 bad thing tweeted about him and the league looses its mind, but these local coaches and adults doing it to young men is totally acceptable. Would you then be ok with one of these kids confronting the adult, standing up for themselves or would that be disrespectful. Interesting.

Re: From High School board but worth the read

And this is how the 'oldest tradition in hockey' (legacy kids to the front of the line!) lives? - "...there was nothing left for bias interpretation, it was all data."

It lives because the 'interpretation' is what keeps these legacy kids moving forward. Is there any other sport where the offspring of top players magically become the second / third and now forth generation to play at the highest levels?

Re: From High School board but worth the read

Take a look at the Toronto Bluejays....although those sons of MLBers are pretty good.
