Actually club hockey is almost at the age where you will start to see a few town and/or tier 1 kids pop up and compete at the elite level. Just contact the coach of the club team you are interested in and have your son skate with them for a practice.
If your 2011 has been playing valley this entire time, you need to be realistic about how good he is right now. Is he playing in valley's top division? Is he scoring at will? Compare your kid to the other club kids on his town team and you should have a good feel for what club division he belongs in, and try to talk to those coaches. I'd be shocked if he's fed elite level if he's been doing nothing but town, regardless of how many spots are still left.
And no, you don't need to be playing fed elite to play competitively in most public HS. Prep is a different story.
Where does he play now?
What team is he looking at?
You want options?
Most likely fed elite is out of the question. If you found the dboard I’d imagine you figured that out.
But there are other levels of teams that maybe he’s a good fit for.
What makes you think he’s elite level?
I don’t think he’s quite elite level, maybe some day….but tier 1 he could hold his own
Sure - north of Boston
For 2011 check out Americans (E9), Mass Bay(Indepenedent), Islanders (EHF) as they are all pretty competitive with each other. The lower level teams would be Vipers (EHF), Rangers (BHL), Shamrocks (EHF) those teams would be competitive with each other.
If your son can skate forwards and backwards and understnds the offsides rules, he can play elite for the Eagles, Kings, MassCon, Breakers, Bandidts, and Capitals.
How fast? How physical is he? How is his hockey IQ. Town to elite EHF is a big jump.
Oh sorry, I read that wrong. They are competitive with T1 not Elite.
Don't bother trying out. Your kid will get cut and the dboard will be, sorry your kid got cut. He's a bender bud.
I have a spot for him.
It is not impossible. I have seen multiple cases that kids join EHF elite from town or similar club level at 12/13 year old and continue to move up.
Give the Vipers a call.
