So we are getting divorced in Michigan. We are agreeable on all terms of our divorce. Can we file an uncontested divorce? If he files, do I need to appear in court? I was originally going to file to keep the divorce in my county, but I read that a lot of times the filer has to appear, but the other person doesn't. If that's the case I want him to file so I don't have to really do anything.
Mace: My ex, who was the one who filed, moved and his Lawyer went to court on his behalf a couple of times. My Lawyer also went in for me. Sometimes the Judge asks for the client to come in, especially when she/he is going to make a final decision.
