Had a great day fishing with White Cap Cal. Boated 14 salmon, 10 lakers, and 2 big white perch (which I shall devour this evening. This was our best day for large fish. Biggest was a 25" laker at 5#, 22" salmon at 4 1/4#, and 4 salmon at 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 #. The ave. laker was 21+". Most of the early fish came on flies on the lead core 6 to 8 colors. Ran flies on the lead all day and picked up a few more. The best lure was top gun orange w/black dots. Also got a few on mooselauke mini copper and orange, but just runts on that one. We got a couple on Gray Ghost (Gus's) special assassin fly. The best fly today was one AJ's tied for me.
It was neat to watch a bald eagle scoop up a fish. Hooked on Salmon got some footage on his cam corder.
Nice catch Salty Dawg... thats a very good number of big fish.
Where are you guys seeing the eagle? I haven't happened to see one yet on Winni. Taking a few guys out tomorrow and would like to be able to show them.
Hey'Salty how are you running those flys on lead? ARE you using small dogdgers in front of them or some other kind of spinner or are you just draging them by themself.I never had much luck with streamer flys, either single hook or tandem.I gess I just don't how to fish them,if you have time I would greatly appreciate your knowledge of the art of trolling flys and/or flyfishing techques. Thanks in advance Salmoneer
Today is Friday?isn't it Friday 8/25.Doesn't matter, just got confused, thought I missed a day.All you working folk talking about fishing tommorrow, thought you meant Saturday.
