Fished with the boys from New Jersay today. This was their first time on a private charter and for salmon all together, We quit at 9:30 and had only caught 1 fish before 6:30 so the action was pretty fast for 3 hours. They boated 22 fish, 18 salmon, 3 lakers, and 1 rainbow that was 12 inches and was tagged it must have just been stocked for the winter derby. No color did better than another and no tactic did any better it was a total mix of stuff today. Fished the broads from long to diamond.
Picture shows a 21.25in 3.80lb salmon and a 24in 4.55lb salmon. The big boy hit on 8 colors of lead at about 9 am and was jumping before we even got to the rod with 8 colors behind him WOW!! A bulldog the whole way. While he was landing this one John pulled in a nice 3.5 pounder and then when we unhooked this one and set the rod down the same kid grabs the next rod and pulled in the 3.8lber!!
YOAdrien, you da man. Nice job, looks like the bigger Fall fish will be biting better the coming weeks and a big percentage (18) of SALMON today, nice ones too. That guy looked as happy as a clam, why'd they quit so early ?????
I'll be giving Squam a try Friday and maybe Saturday and see if they are biting well yet, if not I'll be on the prowl Sunday, guess where ?
They had all caught a bunch, they forgot their lunches back at camp and they had been on vacation since saturday and this was the first sunny day so far so they wanted to go do other things before it started raining on them again. They got what they wanted out of a fishing trip, that's for sure, and i don't think they had any breakfast they were going to go get their jet boat and cruise to meredith for some food.
As long as the customer is happy i am happy but the way they were biting into mid morning, if we stayed on them it would have been another 30+ fish day i guarantee it. I don't have a set ending time on my charters i put up a price to get me out there and if they want to quit at 8am or 2 pm i am just as happy because they are happy.
