The treble hook sizes I know pretty well.I like the saiwash hook.It is just a single barbed hook with a straight shank.I think these hooks cause less damage during a hook up than terble's.Gamakatsu makes them now and they should be good.If i can figure what size,I was thinking a 1/0 & 1,but I'm not sure and they are 24.99 for a pkg of 100.
Thanks for the info, we had a big go around here last year on Treble Vs single..

I don't believe you want a 1/0 for db's. That is a pretty big hook. I'd think, but am not sure that a #4 or #6 for db smelt would be big enough. You can get away with a bigger hook on top guns.
They are #8s on the top guns too, I checked with Alan/Beth at A.J.s on that last year. I have been making lures and I can tell you even a #6 is a little big for the smaller lures. Unless you're targeting big lakers I'd stick with the #8s for the top guns and smelt guns and only use #6s on bigger lures (maybe on a couple DBs?). I tested out the action of the lures with different hooks and it made quite a difference. I ended up taking off nearly all the #6s I had put on some lures and going with all #8s to improve action.
The top guns I ordered from AJ's last summer came with size 6 red trebles. The dbs that I ordered from River's Edge came with #8 trebles. I'm looking at them right now.
