Went out with Travis this morning on Cool Water. After 26 years at the lake it was my first time fishing for cold water species in earnest. And what a day it was!
We left out of Winter Harbor just after 5 am and headed out between Rattlesnake and Diamond Islands. Right as we dropped the 4 lines it exploded. We netted two nice salmon right away. The first was a 21 in, 4.25 lb, 4 yr old female and the second was a 23 in 4.3 lb, male.
Right in this same flurry we hooked a laker, a white perch, and a couple shakers.
They were biting the flies, and one on the spoon with a blade set up.
Around 8:30 we hooked a BIG salmon, fought it almost to the mono and lost it. Had a repeat about 9:30.
Around 10 we netted a nice 17 in, 1.5 lb Laker. We capped the day around 10:45 with an 18 in, 2.5 lb rainbow. This was hooked in the gill and bleeding, so we kept it. A delicious dinner.
So thanks Travis for a great day on the lake. Wonderful experience!
