Deer season around the corner and I am in the market for a scope to top off my new Weatherby Deluxe 30-06. Im kind of in between the Leupold VX-II and the Nikon Monarch, but I have heard good things about the Cabelas Alaskan guide scopes. Any advice from owners or users of these would be appreciated and I thank you in advance. I hunt NH, PA, and MD so 300-400 yard shots are not out of the question since I rarely get those long shot opportunities in the dense NH woods.
I have 1 rifle with a 30 year old leupold mounted on it. The scope has been moved from a 308 to a 30-06 to a a-bolt 06. I buy another one if I needed but this one is perfect. I also have a 270 Weatherby magnum with a Nikon Supreme also a 30 plus year old gun. Both are good choices
I've got a Luepold VX-II LRD mounted on my 30.06 I know people who are very into guns and rifle accuracy, study ballistics charts and all that jazz. I just want to shoot a deer clean. But, these guys recommended the VX-II or the VX-3 if you got extra cash laying around. My VX-II has served me very well. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I hope this helps.
