Great fishing today (10am-230pm). Hooked 6 landed five all nice fat fiesty salmon 19-21". On 1 color and fly rod with all the sinking line out to backing- live smelt, no flash. AB bridge to black point. Kept one my buddy hooked through the eye, but it had a previous hook wound anyway. One fish saw the boat and peeled line straight to bottom in 50 FOW!
Single hook of course up through lips- I hook them kind of deep- have the hook come out about halfway between the eyes and nostrils so you get some of the bony plate on the forehead ( it does not kill them) trolling slow 1 - 1.5. Off the lead and flyline Im running about 40 ft of 8lb mono (for shock) to a quality ball bearing swivel then about 6-8 ft of 6lb flouro (seagar or similar). Set drag/clicker as light as conditions allow. Keep an eye on bend in rod; as I could see if I picked up debris with just the slightest more bend in the rod.
