Skijiggers and G2jiggers

Good Morning all- Thanks for the post Bob and the kind words. Bob has done a great job as a Charter Captain and is an expert at trolling streamers and tying them also! If you are looking for someone to fish with and learn the "ropes" he is the guy. Might even share his secret patterns with you.
Ater my father, Chet passed way in 2014 I experineced a lull in my fly tying ang fishing. Got back into it last year and really had a great year. The Landlockeds are in good supply in mnay locations. I did well on Francis Lake and First Conneticut lake in Pittsburgh. Both have some very big Salmon, good fishing access and a nice trip to fish up there. I also did well on Winni and Big Squam two of the "go to" lakes I have been fishing for years. Winni is where I learned to troll salmon and last year was a good year around Welch and Diamond islands. Many of the Maine lakes offer good Salmon fishing and there are a couple up there that also have some trophys, and wild landlockeds also. I will be doing multiple trips to Maine this year.
It feels good to be back tying streamers ( Ozzy is keeping me busy :) ) and building the jggers again. Actually the more time I spend doing this the more anxious I am to get back on the water. 2020 should be a real good year.

Glad to share info and answer any questions and looking forward to things I learn on fishlakewiini.com and hear from the old crew that were frequent visitors to this board.

Good Luck , Good Fishin, and Keep on Jiggin!

Re: Skijiggers and G2jiggers

Nice to hear from you Paul. Would you be open to discussing First Conn Lake? Never fished there.
I have been thinking about doing a trip. If so,best way to contact you.

Re: Skijiggers and G2jiggers

Yes Sir- First CT and Francis Lake are both easy access and good salmon fishing. First CT is also very good for Lake trout. On Francis launch at the canpground, plenty of free parking and fish the section from the launch out to the main lake and then up the right side a little. In the fall I have seen many many very large Salmon spawning up the CT river. On First Lake, good public launch with a dock, run up the left side of the lake to about 30' of water approx at the "sandbar" which is the area where the CT river dumps in from Second Lake. I always run tandems and my NewFound Special has been a good producer. Also have action on the Needle smelt and any of the Marvel patterns.
Plenty of places to stay in Pittsburg and the Buck Rub has great food. Very nice trip up to Pittsburg.
Paul

Paul, Thank you very much for the info on 1st Conn lake. More than I expected.
Thanks again,
Ed.

Re: Skijiggers and G2jiggers

1st is a crazy lake. The river dumps in and makes some crazy currents and temp variations especially earlier in the year. I went a few years ago, and on May 10th they got snow.... caught some beautiful salmon in 1st and several lakers including very large one that went for an LDR. Most people seem to fish the rivers and the lakes tend to be a lot more quiet then there southern brethren.
