Just Got Back From Ole Canada!!!!!!!!!!!11

Wow!!!!!!!! What a great weekend we had, ended up fishing all day on friday from 6am till 3pm, Boated 1 nice fat 20" Rainbow and 13 small salmon between 10" - 14", and had just about as many short strikes with fish on for a minute then gone, Sat. got an early start tryed going real slow 1.2mph- 1.5mph targetting strictly lakers but couldn't buy a hit said the heck with this and went back to what we were doing on Friday 2.3mph-3.0mph and instantly started catching fish again within 10 minutes got one more rainbow about 15" and fat, and another 14 small salmon (for some reason or other we couldn't find their Mom's and Dad's) around 12pm decided to go up to a spot we seen no other boats, Bang!!!!!! leadcore went off at 9 colors Big Daddy on board my buddy Robert beat his got a new record for him 8pounds 6ounces, try as he could he still couldn't beat my fish LOL but now i have to get another one cause he has two big ones LOL, trolled in to go for lunch and caught 3 more small salmon, came back in the late afternoon for a few hours and boated 4 more small salmon then got chased off the lake by a big thunderbanger, (pretty interesting seeing around 50 boats scrambling to get the heck out of there). Today fished early AM till around 11, ended up with 5 small salmon and one nice fat salmon around 20" 3-4 pounds (Finally found a daddy right before we leave LOL) All in all had an awesome weekend with my best friend and my little fishing partner Amber who reeled in most of the fish so her arms are a little sore 3days fishing with dad and his buddy, one day with the Yo Adrian, and one day with Big John on Squam she's still ready for more LOL, Also had many short strikes where the fish were there then gone, Hot lures (until i lost in from a downrigger ball coming to close to our boat LOL Ughhhhhhhh) was the DB smelt Mother of Pearl, and the Cool Water Cruiser top gun, variety of other lures but these two were the best for us, These small salmon up there were Crazy I've never seen small salmon as Agressive as these were it was nut's most fish were caught on leadcore set-ups with 9 - 10 colors of lead in the water with approx 50 - 75 ft of mono, only a handful off of the rigger (one of our electric riggers pooped the bed on us UGHHHHH) and all this was with only 3 lines in the water as your only allowed 1 line a piece. Wish we could have caught more larger salmon but we had an absulute Blast!!!!!!! All salmon released unharmed except for one that swallowed the hook down to his touch hole!!!!! Sorry for such a long report!!!!!!! Take Care God Bless and Tight Lines LOL Dave From up North

Re: Just Got Back From Ole Canada!!!!!!!!!!!11

Nice report Dave, sounds like you folks had a blast, especially Amber! I have fished Magog several times on the Canadian side and did very well with Winni tactics. We have yet to get a big Salmon there but plenty of small ones.
Fished Merrymeeting yesterday, all short salmon 9 colors and 38 feet on the rigger with a couple of bigger rainbows thrown in. Hot lures were the small copper mooselooks and mother of pearl white DB's. (love that lure...)
Fished a smaller trout/bass lake this morning with a mexed bag of small rainbows and browns. Bows at 5 colors and browns at 8-9 colors early with a couple off the rigger at about 40 feet. Hot lures were the TG Brown Trout and the NH Guide.
This year, thanks to tips gathered from this board, I have been using and have more confidence with the down rigger every time out. Noe experimenting with spinners off the ball, etc.
It is amazing what you can learn from this board...it's the best!
Good luck all,
Bob

Re: Re: Question for Anyone???

While fishing up there we saw at least 20 - 30 boats all anchored in about 30' of water almost in a straight lines, some people looked like they were jigging others possibly just bottom fishing???? these boats are about 30 to 40 feet away from a drop off that goes anywhere from 125feet to 300 feet, Any guess's what they are fishing for? Didn't see anyone catch anything but still curious what they were fishing for? Do lakers come from that deep up to a 30foot shelf like that? Should have asked one of the boaters but some of them can be pretty rude up there Thanks Take Care God Bless and Tight Lines LOL Dave From up North
