White Cap and I went for a 5 day fishing trip on Ontario, Mexico Bay, which lasted 1 and ¼ days on the water, White Cap’s first trip out there. Trip cut short because of high seas. For our effort 11 fish.
Fished Monday evening for 3 hours, 3 kings; 18, 26 and a 16 pounder.
Tuesday; 7 Kings and a 8 lb Brown; Kings; 2-21, 8, 15, 10 and 2 shaker (runts, rats).
Ran 2 downriggers with Spin Doctors (SD)/fly with cheater spoons for a while, until the cheaters was causing clusters, one fish on the cheater, several fish on the SD. Ran a wire and mono Dipsies with J Plugs, dodger/fly and SD/fly, all taking fish. Equal takes on the Dipsies and downriggers.
The highlight of the trip was a 21 lb King that did a long distant leap and then on the way in did a Michael Jordon style triple Lutz in the air, spectacular.
What an experience. Thank you Gus. My first time on Lake Ontario and what a thrill it was pumping in a 20 lb. king salmon. My 8lb. brown was also a prize for me.
Not only are you a good fisherman but you are also a great mentor and a good friend.
Thanks again for the invite and I'm already looking forward to next year.
Cal
Had to slap Cal’s hand that was on the drag star, he kept on wanting to tighten it up and I was telling (yelling) let the fish run, let the fish run, give the fish some line, bow to the KING. He gets so excited!!!!!!!! You know how I set the drag???
We’ll go fishing with you out on Lake Ontario, we could hold the RFP BBQ out there next year.
