Long weekends are toughhhhhhhhhh.

Just got home from "up north", Great weekend. No time to catch up with the message board, etc. right now (hate it when I'm gone 4/5 days) have about 50 people showing up in a 1/2 hour. Full report with a couple of photos tomorrow, short blip below..

Fished Squam Friday, Saturday and this morning, happy to say we caught fish all 3 days, and of the desired varity. Best Salmon was 5 lbs/14 ozs. Some really nice Bows all 3 days. Not great action but allot better than it's been, looking forward to the rest of the season..

Sunday we moved the Barge to Winni for a day trip, fished with my son David, Craig Butler (Slipknot) and brother-in-law Joe Potzka from the Cape, his first time Salmon fishing. Very happy to say we had an "un-eventfull" move, both back and forth from Squam to Winni with the "Barge", seems like that might be the un-official name for my boat, appropriate nicknameI guess. Caught allot of fish at Winni, big and small, no Perch or Bass, super fun day, lots of laughs. Weather was perfect for fishing, a little wet and windy, but the Barge handled it fine, we were all quite comfy and fishing was great, best ever.

Hope everyone had a safe Labor Day weekend and gets back home safely if still on the road.

Re: Long weekends are toughhhhhhhhhh.

Hey john, the names wayne, we never met but I went out with slipknot a few weeks ago and he was telling me that your riggers were on the front of the "barge"
I was just wondering have you ever back trolled?
Nice report, I used to fish squam as a kid before I was into salmon we used to catch a ton of smallies around loon island near "purgatory cove" quoted from on golden pond.
Take care,
wayne

Re: Re: Long weekends are toughhhhhhhhhh.

My riggers are off the side doors, not sure what you mean troll backwards, if you mean what it implies, the answer is no ???

There are still allot of Smallies, even where they aren't supposed to be.

Re: Re: Re: Long weekends are toughhhhhhhhhh.

Back trolling is a technique as implied and some use it to get the boat real slow, I have not seen it done around here but people do it. I was just curious.
