Yeah, yeah... late report

Took my brother out Saturday morning. Fished from 5:30 til 9am, then had to go help a cousin.
Best fish was a 3 pound laker... Had one decent salmon 2 1/2 pounds or so... a few runt salmon... several white perch... and one smallie (first smallie in quite a while).
Ran four lines... two leadcore and two riggers to start. The leadcore had flies and riggers had lures. Not even a bite on leadcore after a couple hours so sent down all four riggers instead.
At the advice of John S and Popeye, I put a CWC off one of the riggers... took about 45 minutes but we finally hooked up on something decent with it. It never jumped, but sure acted like a salmon??? Ended up throwing the fly when it crossed another line. Never did see it.
Hot lure and depth was 36' with an orange/black/copper smelt gun. Picked up a couple of the runt salmon at 88' down while trying to tease up a laker???
Best fighting fish of the day??? A 15" white perch! Man, those little buggers can fight. That little guy pulled the rod tip right to the water before we got the rod out of the rod holder. I thought for sure it was a big ol' salmon.
Actually I think we went 45 minutes without a bite at one point. That was when I tried trolling through the "lakers" down deep... only to start catching short salmon (13-14").
I wish we had more time... I would have liked to fish a different area. Launched out of Center Harbor that morning and didn't want to run all the way to the south end to fish. Oh well... at least I got to spend some time with my brother and catch some fish.

Oh yeah, I forgot...

Forgot to mention... we found another error in the Navionics Map. That makes three that I have found. This time, the map said we should be in 40-45 feet of water... wrong... it came up to 22-23'. Luckily we were watching the fish finder as well and my brother yelled back to "bring 'em up". Had three riggers coming up as the fourth one started bouncing... luckily it didn't hook up.

So... cautionary note... don't put total trust in the contour map. Keep an eye on the depth finder at all times.

Re: Oh yeah, I forgot...

Not sure it will help any, but are you (or anyone) sending any of these errors alongh to Navionics ???
Could be a serious problem one of these days for some unsuspecting boater. Probably not a major issues for people that have fish finder/GPCS Combos.

By thw way, did you get your new unit installed and did the guy contact you for the free old unit. The one I saw at Squam Rover Bait is still there, 110.00 for the complete unit.

Re: Re: Oh yeah, I forgot...

I guess thats why there is the legal disclaimer that shows up when the units boot up and force you to hit the "exit" key to start using the unit...I noticed massive errors on one of my little reservoirs down here. It was pretty accurate for most spots I fished on Moosehead. It would be a good idea to report them; maybe they'll give you free upgrade LOL

Re: Re: Re: Oh yeah, I forgot...

No, I haven't contacted them with the errors... not sure how I would upload the errors to send them??? Maybe I'll try to figure it out some night. For now I have just put caution flags over the errors. Helps me, but doesn't do a darn thing for anyone else...

Maybe thats why he was calling me Sunday? I was in an area with bad cell coverage all day (Gilmanton)... So, Travis... give me a shout if you wanted that unit. May be better off getting one from someone else anyways, as it was acting up on me Saturday. I think it may be getting ready to quit?
