Re: Saturday morning report

Friday over at the Weirs, 3 lakers on flies, earl bite, nothing after 8:30, down temp 40’ 52 degrees. Went over to Sandy and Welch, no fish, down temp 60’ 55 degrees. It seems that more lakers than salmon are being caught.

Re: Re: Saturday morning report

Maybe Salty, the guides or even John Viar could comment, but in all places I've been in NE this year it seems like fall is a littler early. I wonder if the Salmon are tied in to staging areas for spawning or even well into spawning? That might explain why no salmon...

Re: Re: Re: Saturday morning report

My guess would be find the smelt and find the salmon. I know it slows down but should be getting some salmon. I sat around all day today thinking I should have fished. Bet it would have been good. The last salmon we caught was spitting out all kinds of smelt.

Than hardware imitating smelt colors / patterns should 59ie

Re: Re: Re: Re: Saturday morning report

I can find all kinds of bait pods, whether they are smelt, white perch, etc. just find 60 to 65 FOW and bait pods are there, that where they have been hanging out for the last month. Still no bites when going over them fishing from 40 to 50 ft down on lead core and DR.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Saturday morning report

I'f they are in spawn mode they may have other priorities than hanging on the smelt... They may be stacking up at the mouths of the rivers / streams, even smaller creeks if they are flowing and cool.
