Re: Re: couple of questions.

Thanks Popeye. Jake and I will be there. Big bag of scallops will be my entry fee. First ice is best ice.Going after a wall brookie this weekend. Great pond by my camp. Flyfishing only. Have gotten fish around 2.5 this time of year the past two years. Need one in the 3 1/2 lb range before I put it next to the 12 lb steelie I got on 4 lb test in the Salmon River.I ran downstream with this thing for 1/2 hour before she caved in.I bet it jumped a dozen times.

Re: Re: Re: couple of questions.

Joe -- all of my electrical gear is run off the same, main battery, including my 2 Canon Mag 10 riggers and my Lowrance 337c. Makes sense as the battery stays charged when trolling. I'd just make sure to run a dedicated fuse or breaker on the Lowrance power red /hot and use a fuse / breaker sized to protect the Lowrance. I did this for my riggers as well and all the gear seems to play nice together.

Re: Re: Re: Re: couple of questions.

I have a real decent pond for just what your looking for. It too, is an early ice pond, big brookies and brownies.......only 20 minutes from the "other" lake.
If we get good ice in December I will call you and let you know when the ice is good.
Can't wait to see the Jakester......I really liked him.

That river is a trip!!! You must have been lit up like a christmas tree!!!!
I watched a guy from New Mexico catch and release a 35 lb king on a fly rod on a 6 lb leader. He kida messed up everyones fishing for a while, but he did get it in, and let it go!!!
I use to make that trek back in the early years about every weekend, both for the kings and steelies. Wet dream all the way.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: couple of questions.

I was amazed at this kid that was fishing there once. He came out of the woods and was telling me about how he fishes strictly nymphs. Everyone at that time was fishing egg sacs on noodle rods or small pieces of orange sponge. He asked me if he could squeeze in next to me and I said "sure." He strips some line off his flyrod and takes one cast and hooks up. Off he goes down the river. He comes back a 1/2 hour later with a gorgeous 21 lb steelhead. It turned out to be the biggest one caught in the river in years. I break for lunch and comes back to the river and he's right behind me. He takes another cast an hooks up again!! Another 1/2 hour goes by and here he comes again with an 18 lb brown in full spawning colors. It looked like it was already mounted. Two consecutive casts. Never saw anything like it!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: couple of questions.

I had a kid take me to a brook off the little salmon back in the 80s and I still go there. Its narrow, and full of fish, and a little easier going downstream with them!!! The locals do know how/where to fish, just like the pros here.
