Casey, my son David's daughter is doing great, but has had to go in daily to have dressings changed.
Last week they decided one of the bad burns would need a small graft, they did it yesterday, there is one other small area that they are keeping an eye on too ????? But when she comes home, in a day or so, she will only have to go in once a week now.
The graft I guess heals faster than the other burns, so that's a good thing. The majority of the burns were 2nd degree and they say those areas are healing super. She did have one small burn under her chin, just about completely healed now, have to look hard to see it. How lucky she (we) was, no burns on her face, this could have been much, much worse.
There are some kids in there now that would make a grown man cry, sure hope they come out of it OK.
Next time you see The Shriners, remember they aren't just a bunch of guys running around in funy hats.
I see some kids in there practically alone most times, parents (if any) must be from a long distance away. Must be really hard on the kids and parents as well, the burn and healing ptocess is bad enough, but to be seprtated from your loved ones going throuh this must be very difficult..
We are very lucky indeed, it's about a 25/30 minute drive each way when traffic is low, 5 minutes off 93, again when traffic is low of course..
Hoping she will come home today or tomorrow.
