Old Scantum report

Fished with Captain Thomas Yip today and friend Ben Glenn. Left Thomas' slip around 8:00. On the third stop, Thomas had the Cod dialed in! We were slamming them. Around 11:00 we were approaching our limit. Started releasing keeper cod to get larger keepers. Several cod were in the 20 to 30# range. I have to admit that I caught my share of cod, but Ben and Thomas were getting the biggest. We left Old Scantum a little after noon with our limits, heading for Thomas' slip. Dropped the cod off and iced them down in Thomas' truck. Turned around and headed over to the Merrimack looking for bait to entice some stripers. Saw some bait on the screen (not a lot) but could not get them to bite. So, the stripers will have to wait a bit. The weather was good and there were 1 to 2's in the morning. Coming back from the Merrimack, the wind kicked up and it got a little rough, and therefore a little wet. A good time was had by all. Pictures to follow.

Re: Old Scantum report

Hey Richard,
My past 2 times out on the salt I hit that same area, good fishing all day long. I havent gotten any that big yet, but was really happy to go home with a full fish well on the last trip. Winni calls for the next week or 2 and then I am hitting the salt again for Stripers and Cod and Haddock.

Thanks for the update!

Richard'
Sounds like fun.
I checked another forum I know of to see about Striper's and the site has not been updated this year. Wont be long.

I agree, it won't be long for stripers. We can give the newly stocked salmon a break after the derby.

I hope this years stocked salmon are the same size as last years are right now.Man they are small, they may not be legal to harvest at all this year either.polebreaker
