Re: Stripers

We were actually fishing the Maine side of the river and I believe that the Maine law has a range in the 20" - 26" and then 40" and over, something like that. Most of our fish were in the 24" to 26" range with an occational 29" to 31" fish. Surface temperature on the finder was as I recall around 64 degree. As far as the trolling rig, it was a tube type that you could set a slight twist to and have it roll while trolling with a worm at the hook. As I mentioned before this was our first ever trip and I can see why this fish is so popular. Hope to get back out there again.

Re: Stripers

Sounds like the river cooled off a little then. Thats good, as it was up to 74 last week. Too warm for most stripers temperament.
Those tube-n-worm rigs he was using always seem to work. Looking at them you wouldn't think so, but the fish love 'em. I generally store mine tied in a knot... this way the "twist" stays in the memory of the tube/wire and creates a great roll to the rig.
Once you start getting to high twenties and low thirties fish you really start to notice the strength that stripers have. Just wait til you get your first over 40"... you thought they were fun at 30"... haha - hold on. I'm hooked on striper fishing. It sure gets in your blood!
Best of luck on your next trip.

Sounds like a Santini eel rig!
