It's sad to hear about the cancellation of the derby. When I worked on the road (NATGUN), I worked with a guy from Tilton and he spoke highly of the fishing in Winnipesaukee and Winnisquam. It's sad to see how our fisheries change over time. However, New York also supports some awesome salmon and trout fisheries. If your looking for an alternative location for your annual fishing weekend, you should consider coming out to New York. Some excellent spring fishing is available on Lake Ontario or if you do not want to travel that far, I can schedule charters for Lake George, Finger Lakes, or Otsego Lake (a gem hidden in the Catskill Mountains).
