Re: Lake Trout Trolling

We troll for them slow 1.8 mph or less.Play in the mud. This allows us to target the lakers but also catch a salmon now and than, others like to find a pod of them and jig for them.Big mooselock or speedy shiners work well, orange and also white with red dots are good colors.polebreaker

Re: Lake Trout Trolling

I think every body of water is a little differant as to what works best , also that time of year it will depend on water temp . bright colors and going as slow as possible might be a good starting point . Trolling fast for salmon seems to produce lots of little ones but differant tactics might be needed for lunkers .
Where do you plan to fish and how slow can ya go ??

Re: Lake Trout Trolling

I can get down to .7-.8 seeking flat ground around wolfeboro i guess.

Re: Lake Trout Trolling

if you can find a sandy bottom shoal 20 to 40 feet deep with deeper water around it, a black flatfish or big sutton spoon skipping off the bottom is killer on togue. .6 mph to 1.1 mph handlining while jigging works wonders, you wont catch many salmon with this technique. this works may into june, try sebago, the big shoal east of the nw river and get them out of my lake
