I had 2 flat lines out. I'm assuming my lures ride a little higher because my boat speed is on the high side so I put more lead out to get it deeper. If I read a post that says they're catching them at 2 colors, I try 3 colors. I've tried trolling through surface feeding fish before and never had a strike so I think there were some up top and some below and just got lucky. The hook up I had at 5 colors I was just trying different lures and depths and there were no surface feeders around. I just ate the salmon, tasted fine. It did look quite a bit like one I hooked through the ice that was in the same condition and I cut off but who knows. There was no hook in its mouth(from winter) or other hook damage and nothing much in its stomach. It did have some eggs so it was a female. It was kind a darker (sickly?) green and I thought it was a smallmouth bass at first sight.
Long time reader. First time poster. I have always been curious about Moultonborough Bay and whether or not I should head down that way. We have always headed toward Sandy and Welch. Is the spring Salmon and Lake Trout fishing pretty good in the bay, and do they hold in that hole off of Geveva Point through the summer as well? Curious. Thanks!
