Re: MIAA Hockey: Preseason Top 10

The Catholic conference can serve its purpose for Freshmen and Sophomore years. Get on the ice early and than transfer for Junior and Senior year to a top prep school or junior program.

That's pretty much the ticket for forwards. Rarely is a defensemen ready his first two years of competitive D-1 h.s. hockey and they might be better off out of the gates playing full season - more ice time, kids their own size, game moves at a familiar pace. Can't remember a top notch freshmen / sophomore defender.

Re: MIAA Hockey: Preseason Top 10

This is exactly correct...take Central Catholic for example they did this two years ago and brought in a bunch of kids from the Islanders. Only problem is most of these kids are still there now as Juniors.

XAVERIAN (12-8-3)
The Hawks’ unrelenting, gritty style carried them all the way to the South semifinals last season. Twelve players graduated but coach Dave Spinale still has a solid group of returnees at his disposal.
The key, however, could be junior transfer James Herring in goal, stellar a year ago for Natick where he posted a 2.26 gaa and three shutouts. Seniors Tommy Duggan (16 points) and Ross Vona return on the blue line.
