The real questions is why did kids leave, and why did they take some of the freshman. 4 of them are over their head and hurting the team, and would benefit from a year on JV or playing for a club team. This is the bigger issue. HS hockey has officially become the 14 or 15 year old game vs. a 16 or 17 year old game.
Not sure "why" is even a question in 2018's hockey landscape. Maybe what you mean is why can't MIAA hockey still be competitive enough for kids to stay?
