Are the boarding schools going to have a season Feb- April? NH preps already have their schedules out, Why would MA not follow? Hockey teams living together in dorms and testing frequently should be plenty to keep it safe. All of them are playing for club teams now anyways.
Silence is never a good sign. Worcester Acadamy has some games on the books for Feb, but who knows at this point. IMO if your kid is playing now, stay remote and finish out the season
Some schools will be getting info out tomorrow, doesn't look good, cant agree on virus protocols. Again, adults ruining it for kids.
Word is Cushing just basically cancelled boys and girls hockey, keep your kids home playing for whatever team they are on now and do remote learning. How many other schools will be that open about it? MIAA playing games but these schools with complete control over the teams environment can’t figure it out!
Prep school hockey and Basketball players are amongst the largest growing group of teens suffering from depression and thoughts of suicide. These kids have deducted so much of their lives to this sport and were told the prep route was the best choice out there, and now schools are just leaving these kids out to dry. MIAA playing games, every rink filled with games and MA boarding schools can’t figure it out.
Shame on them! Great job by Dexter, Rivers, Bel Hill, and the 1/2 season teams trying to give these kids a good experience at least the schools mentioned care about their players
Those Mass schools you mention are all day schools. What is your solution for Mass boarding schools where they need to protect the 98% of the students that aren't playing hockey? Lakes region schools in NH have a "bubble" but those schools are much smaller and even then most games were cancelled last fall. Rather than complaining, what is your solution?
I'm also getting sick of people praising the half season teams as heros for picking up these prep players. This is not out of the goodness of their heart. This is added revenue they never knew was there. Not saying its bad, just saying its not a charity. These kids (parents) are paying for this (on top of what they already paid for prep, split season, extra winter season, etc.)
So the boarding schools that steal all these high school hockey players cant play! This is years of karma. You would think these higher education institutions could figure it out, but I guess not. You think the schools would rent out their rink to MIAA teams? We have so many games booked that we could use a few more sheets for our students to play. The prep school kids are welcome to work the clock.
Careful, your prep school inferiority complex is showing
So now kids are back on campus, locked down most of the day, cant take masks off, and cant play hockey
Same in CT. So my D2 high school jr is playing but Avon Old Farms, Kent, Brunswick and all the snobs can’t play! This is so great! Feel bad for the kids but they are there for education anyways.
My son goes to MA Prep, just had a call with coach and they have 15 games scheduled to start second week of Feb?
So many high school games today in MA. Poor prep kids can only watch them play, did see Deerfield had some outdoor stick time today though, scouts were there
Who is playing?
Wasn't Dexter playing a bunch of games and just stop?
So cases are dropping, there is a push for kids to go back to school because there is evidence that it is not spreading in schools, MIAA and FS teams are playing hockey across the state, and yet boarding schools with complete control over their environment wont let the kids play and compete against other schools. These kids are tested twice a week, wear masks all day and night, but cant play hockey. Medical teams ruining kids lives "out of an abundance of caution" call for refunds now!
Any one know if the travel rules (can't play out of state) will expire on 2/1? Would be good for those schools that are playing to expand their options.
Loosen restrictions? Just the opposite. Ever see Biden giving a speech somewhere wearing a mask even though he and everyone around him has been vaccinated and are standing outside 20 feet apart? Come on man.
What happened to all of the prep games? Is everyone shut down?
