Re: Prep 2021-22

Things have already started to ease for spring sports and most kids aren’t vaccinated yet. Schools know what their protocol is for vaccinated kids, ask them.

Please stop all the panic spread. No vaccine this past season.
With 4 million vaccines now distributed per DAY next years school will be pretty much normal.
All the schools will say they don't know and are "hopeful" for kids to be able to leave campus but its a "wait and see".
However, the medical teams call the shots, and out of an abundance of caution there priority is zero cases on campus, they don't care about sports or your kids future in sports, they care about that specific schools case count.
^^^^ This exactly. If you don't see the goal posts being moved right now, then you aren't listening to the news. Stop thinking what is logical and switch to abject hysteria because that is how things will be operating. First it was the virus itself, then the variants, and now double mutated variants. The goal now will be total cases at zero and the people captaining the ship now are the ones driving around with double masks on while fully vaccinated. Just because the kids on campus may be vaccinated doesn't mean squat as long as Fauci and the CDC are telling folks to still double mask up and isolate for fear of variant spread. Fox 25 this morning was running an expose on youth sports and hockey is still being mentioned as a huge liability for virus spread, nevermind other youth sports and after school rec. Expect more of the same this upcoming season. Lots of non-answers and then delays and abbreviated seasons with the same protocols in place.

Re: Prep 2021-22

Pretty much back to normal next year. Back to 2019-2020 schedule, in person classes, students will be allowed to leave on the weekend. There might be some rules around wearing masks for a while and really large gatherings, but that will be short lived just like covid in another two months.

ISL is open for business going back to a Wednesday - Saturday game schedule. They are aligned on that point.

Most of the teachers and administrators are vaccinated by now and Older students will be vaccinated before the end of this school year. The freshman and sophomores will be vaccinated over the summer.

Stop spreading the panic when you have no real information. You are the same dope that is afraid to be vaccinated.

There will be a kickass NEPSAC season next year and full hockey will run as normal with preppers (incl boarders) in attendance.

Re: Prep 2021-22

16yo and over are being vaccinated in some states and from 4/19 in MA. CDC allows free interstate travel if vaccinated. Which medical or regulatory reason would be used to justify confinement to campus? Some colleges are mandating vaccination to be on campus.

I would imagine the boarding schools are going to make it mandatory to be vaccinated, which makes sense, but I still hear that they will not allow for kids to leave campus on weekends next fall. Schools I have heard this from in MA:
St Marks
Brooks
NMH
Cushing
Deerfield
Williston
Milton
Waiting to hear from a few others. The risk is too great to their community. I would call if you are either attending or considering attending any of these schools.

Re: Prep 2021-22

Heard same. Also heard many of the schools in Western CT will do same. This will reek havoc on split season hockey once again.

Re: Prep 2021-22

That sucks considering day students can still do half season. Or I guess it’s good to be involved in campus activities in the weekends. Don’t know how many of hockey crazy parents on this dboatd agree with with it.

Re: Prep 2021-22

My son is at prep and spring sports is not allowing any fans on campus. Limited schedule, no fans, no scouts. No mention of what their plan is for next year.

Sorry to hear, our entire family is going to a football game for our son. He goes to a public school about 2 miles from a prep school here in MA that is still on lockdown, students on campus can’t even go to outdoor events. Good choice destroying your kids!

Re: Prep 2021-22

Just got back from my son’s prep (ISL) lax game. Tons spectators, both parents and his classmates.

Really? Our kids prep won’t let us on campus. I’m so done with these medical staffs making decisions NOT based on but out of fear.

I strongly suggest having the conversation with administration, not hockey coach, about what the fall will look like. Then I would ask the hockey coach if you can use his name as a reference and start looking for a plan B. NCDC, NAHL if your guy is 17/18/19.

Re: Prep 2021-22

So day students can pick up a cup of coffee from Starbucks on their way to school, but borders cannot leave their campus and go to a shop across the street? Likewise day students can go to a half season game but borders have to stay in dorm rooms, even though both are vaccinated? I don’t know parents would accept that.

Re: Prep 2021-22

Which is just as insane at one district having a regional tournament about 15 miles over the border from a region/state that can't for some reason...

Already happened this year

Kids let Avon/Csuhing/Thayer for NCDC and USHL etc

Re: Prep 2021-22

Guys, relax. Did you see the men who won the championship tonight? None of our kids are there yet, not even close. I agree another year of lockdowns will not work for those serious about athletics, but at the same time 21 year freshmen at a D1 school
Is reality. My boy just turned 18, lives at prep and loves it there. I’m hopeful next year gives him a shot to be seen at prep, but the same time, he will not be ready to be an impact player at the NCAA level until 21. Gonna love the process and see what happens.

Re: Prep 2021-22

Teacher at prominent prep here. Do not be surprised if things are the same or worse as this past year. We are getting fitted for the heavy duty KN-95's with the replacement filters, as a precaution for the variants. Already bad news about the vaccines not being effective against them. This is being kept hush-hush due to enrollment season. Just wait until that is over. Like I said don't be surprised. If your student is coming for hockey or any sport, expect much of the same.

This is clever one, I give you credit for thinking it up. However, this is another great example of a jealous Dad that deep down wants his kid at prep. The kid can't get recruited because he isn't good enough in hockey and academically, he cant make the grades. Dad sits at home figuring ways to possibly discourage other kids from getting what he ultimately wants for his kid. Enjoy your new mask next year.

Most creative one yet! My kid is at prep, going to be a senior next year, if it’s the same than he will do remote and play the fall/winter somewhere and head back for the spring and graduation, then head to Jrs for a year. If things are open, he will play at school for the winter, graduate and head to Jrs for a year. End game is Jrs for a year, no matter what happens. You get a K95, and you get a K95, and you get....

Yes, campus will completely vaccinated by fall but let’s all wear K95s because of science? And 2 condoms, because of science. Sheep!

Re: Prep 2021-22

Seriously why do you need to go to prep to play good hockey. We live in a good public school system, plenty of kids go to Ivy's and top 50 colleges. Get good grades be well rounded, AP classes, SAT tutors and your good. Yeah you may have some good connections from Biff, but with tech breaking down all these barriers to the good old boys club, it is no longer a needed benefit. It definatly should not be for hockey. Maybe that's why we don't seeing less kids succeed from mass in D1/Pro hockey. Looks like you need they're still a lot of barriers to succeed in hockey though.

Re: Prep 2021-22

Why do you need to go to a hockey academy to play good hockey? There’s another question.

Many Preps have no idea what the Fall will look like. My sons has no clue, wont commit to anything.

Correct! Even the ones who say they do, do not! Academy full season is the way to go now.

Re: Prep 2021-22

Can’t agree with you. My kid also plays a fall varsity sport at his prep and next season is back to normal.

MA Boarding?

Re: Prep 2021-22

ISL day. Fall schedules are out including away games at MA , CT and NY boarding schools. imagine those schools will mandate vaccines like the colleges.
