NCDC Curtain Call?

Been a while since posting. Its great to see others seeing the lack of value the NCDC has brought to the area. Word is that 'NAHL is looking to expand a few teams in this area. That would seal the fate of NCDC. It was, ummm, nice while it lasted!!!

Re: NCDC Curtain Call?

*Yawn.*

It isn't "others." It's one guy that, like you, just keeps posting the same drivel over and over. Guy is such an idiot he is looking down his nose at a kid that leveraged hockey to get into Yale.

Yale.

Maybe it's even only one idiot, including you.

Hockey didn't get that kid into Yale. I am sure Yale wanted others before him, they had to dive into the dumps of hockey to find a kid who had the grades.
Is your argument that the NCDC got this kid to Yale because that is laughable.

Re: NCDC Curtain Call?

truth is NAHL on life support in the east. the idea of additional east teams is a last ditch effort for the current teams to try to save it. reality free model will never work in NE.

I agree that free model doesn't work in the East but how would expanding save the NAHL in East?
My thought was USA Hockey has had enough of the USPHL/NCDC/ whatever and this is best way to end it.
It surely would. The only reason to "stay" is because you cant hack it in the USHL, NAHL, BCHL, or CCHL.

Re: NCDC Curtain Call?

USPHL and EHL are what they are. Good leagues to land in if you’re looking to play DIII hockey. If the USPHL wants to tax their youth programs in order to lighten the financial load in their Jr programs (and get away with it) then all the power to them. If you think your kid has what it takes to play in the USHL or NAHL and then DI, then get the young fella out to the combines/tryouts and see what shakes. We’ve all been at this far too long not to recognize things for what they are.

Exactly. Each level has its place. There is zero reason to knock any league your kid isn't even in, unless you're compensating for some type of inadequacy.

My son is in the league right now. It's got its good parts and bad parts like every other league out there.

He's received 2 D1 offers since the season started. I'd say that's pretty good and not the complete and total talent waste land that NCDC SUX wants everyone to believe.

The conspiracy theorist in me is starting to think that maybe he's a NAHL team owner with an axe to grind, or of course, his kid got cut.

I just don't know why anyone without a kid in the league even remotely cares about it enough to crap all over it without ever even seeing a game.

It's a discussion board so, like you, the point is to provide counterarguments that further the discussion. NCDC Sux and the one or two others aren't interested in discussion. They just want to shout everyone down by repeating the same banalities over and over.

So, I don't bother trying to refute them any more. I just make fun of them for sport instead.

Two years ago (the last time I saw a statistic on it) the decommit rate was 12.5%. Probably way more than twice that now, could even be 3 - 4 times that.

Only a fool would judge a league by the number of commits. Northeastern could offer my kid a commit right now and I would have to think about it, given they have like 13 D that have committed.

Then again, only a fool would send his kid to play low level Canadian Juniors at 16. Or someone that hates his kid, or the kid hates his dad.

Oh, wait.

Re: NCDC Curtain Call?

The all-star team was all older kids. The younger kids do, in fact, receive offers including the two my son has received for full tuition. I really don't care if you believe it because you are irrelevant.

Congrats to your kid!

Hate to have a positive discussion in a negative thread, but what are you thinking about for next year? Will he stay local playing full season, will he play prep, or are you looking at NAHL and the U?

I have no delusions that he will ever play in the NHL. As a matter of fact, as a family we firmly believe he won't. He knows it and we know it. But he's definitely one of the lucky ones that worked his a$$ off and is at the point where he's getting rewarded for it. That is happening whether you think the league sucks or not.

He's living proof that a late bloomer can make it and a pretty cool story as he was passed over by the better "elite" teams for the early part of his youth hockey. Took people telling him he wasn't that good and told them to F off and made it happen. Apparently you are the next wave of those clowns.

Well he is a younger player with already 2 full scholarship offers as you say. I am sure these 2 schools want him to at least play Tier 2 before hitting campus or have they already promised him second line and power play? If he is going D1 why couldn't he have a shot at the NHL? I know why because he isn't going D1. He is going to play D3 like 99% of the bums in the NCDC.

If I remember correctly, your kid's illustrious career is still at the Junior Hockey level as well. Soooo, you don't REALLY know that your on spawn isn't going to be "one of those bums" playing D3 hockey.

It's pretty apparent that you have some serious inadequacies that you are compensating for through your son's athletic success. You're also counting on that to pay for college. Except, things go wrong on the journey. And you're not prepared for that.

I wish your kid all the best, I really do. Especially with a dad with such feelings of inadequacy. Hopefully he doesn't feel the same way you do.

But, i would love to see your face the day the coach that you are counting on today for your kid's future informs your kid that there isn't space for him on the actual playing roster.

Haha that wont happen because unlike you I played D1 hockey and know what it takes. I, unlike you, also have contacts in the business of Junior and College ranks that told me NCDC is clearly not a path at this point. They said if the kid is 16 and you don't want him away just it could be a good alternative to Prep. Unfortunately that isn't who they have gone after. They put out the bums that couldn't produce in the USHL or NAHL and are holding onto commitments bur losing them rapidly. If I were to guess, yout son is 5 foot 10 but "really skilled". Hahahahahaha

Well he is a younger player with already 2 full scholarship offers as you say. I am sure these 2 schools want him to at least play Tier 2 before hitting campus or have they already promised him second line and power play? If he is going D1 why couldn\'t he have a shot at the NHL? I know why because he isn\'t going D1. He is going to play D3 like 99% of the bums in the NCDC.
If I remember correctly, your kid\'s illustrious career is still at the Junior Hockey level as well. Soooo, you don\'t REALLY know that your on spawn isn\'t going to be \"one of those bums\" playing D3 hockey.

It\'s pretty apparent that you have some serious inadequacies that you are compensating for through your son\'s athletic success. You\'re also counting on that to pay for college. Except, things go wrong on the journey. And you\'re not prepared for that.

I wish your kid all the best, I really do. Especially with a dad with such feelings of inadequacy. Hopefully he doesn\'t feel the same way you do.

But, i would love to see your face the day the coach that you are counting on today for your kid\'s future informs your kid that there isn\'t space for him on the actual playing roster.

You sound like the dad of one of the kids on my son's team that "played in the NHL" - except we can't find any record of him in any of the databases.

Your DI experience from 30 years ago means jack ****. My kid had a coach like you for one of his U14 years. Played high level DI. Knew absolutely nothing about today's game.

And if you think your "glory days" gives you a leg up in terms of contacts, guess what? It doesn't. Networking is so much easier today. Dinosaurs like you don't understand how it *really* works.

Nobody has ever claimed NCDC is the best path to college hockey. Get it through your thick skull that we all understand it is what it is. That doesn't make it a bad thing., It makes it a good thing. I am perfectly fine if my kid ends up being a DIII "bum." As long as he's happy and enjoying his life.

Isn't that sweet and supportive of you. Its nice that you can support his 5 foot 10 a$$ talking about how he was passed over because guys like me have contacts and superior genes to allow my son to be well over 6 feet and strong as hell. You can continue to go watch his games at NESC in front of 15 bums like you. He has heard and been passed over his whole life by first the EHF, then prep, and now real Junior leagues. Soon he will be passed over by D1 and land in D3. Then he will marry the hot girls fat sister. I have seen guys like you around the rink for years. Always second best, but "happy". Hahhahahahaa

Haha, I wish it were true! No, this is an actual dad that has a kid playing high level Juniors - it's not clear whether he has made it to the U yet or just NAHL. His big gripe is, NCDC waters down Tier II hockey since it will pull some talent out. So my guess is the kid is in the NAHL. If memory serves, kid also billeted to play in Canada (at a very young age).

The NCDC Sux guy is a clown but he isn't wrong about the league. The guy may be a bigger Dbag though. He is criticizing the use of the Dboard, however his grammar is horrible.
Beginning a sentence with Maybe. Picked up your EQ? As in equalizer? People's as in non-possesive. We know one thing, this guy needs to go back to hammering nails.

Beginning a sentence with Maybe. Picked up your EQ? As in equalizer? People's as in non-possesive. We know one thing, this guy needs to go back to hammering nails.
I'm not the least bit surprised you'd think EQ means "equalizer."
Then, than. What's the difference. Given your high level of grammar no way you didn't mean IQ, you just lucked out that it can mean the same.
EQ most definitely means equalizer. The NCDC guy is a dip$**** but you are a bumbling idiot who probably does hammer nails or plow for a living.
Now, go back to mowing my lawn.

Again, you\\\\\'re struggling with the whole message board concept. Even on an anonymous site, \\\\\"ANON\\\\\" is generally a different person then \\\\\"Anon.\\\\\"

And, BTW, my son is \\\\\"well over 6 feet and strong as hell\\\\\" too. He\\\\\'s the one doing the passing, not being passed. Doing quite well, actually. Very likely to go at least as far as your spawn. Maybe further, because people don\\\\\'t like to deal with people like you that think their kid is manna from heaven. And if he has picked up your EQ, that won\\\\\'t bode well for him, either.

Keep going, you're on a roll! You are making me look infinitely smarter with every post.

Try this, Professor. Type "EQ" into your Google bar. Nothing more. Just two little letters. Then (no, not "than") hit "Enter." You will instantly become smarter than you were 30 seconds before that.

You're welcome.

Smart people must use then vs. than EQually.

They must not know how to show possession.

You do like the use of a comma, incorrectly, however.

You sir, are a moron.

Clearly you nor your bender or a son went to prep or Ivy as I did.
I am not really worried about my son's scholarship. I make that in a day.

Now, can you mow my lawn or what?

Re: NCDC Curtain Call?

First, I do like reading NCDCSux guy, reminds me a bit of the old board. Why the animosity towards the league? I doubt you care that the teams are charging their youth players a few extra bucks to support it. We know you would never have your kid play in the league so it isn't impacting his career. I've read your posts for about a year now and I still don't really know why you care so much.

For me, I don't understand why parents pay for Tier-III Juniors for a 20 year old kid but I don't crap all over them or the league for making that choice. So in all seriousness, why do you hate the league so much?

Sorry I missed out on this banter. Unfortunately, Mr. EQ barely can write a sentence. Is he borderline retarded? I sure hope his sons D1 schools allow for no child left behind because his dumb a$$ will surely need a tutor if he is anything like the old man. Hopefully he can build a deck or something.

This is great. I left to go watch my kid play and then have dinner, and these clowns are tripping over each other trying to make ME look dumb, when I'm not even part of the conversation.

What's that Lincoln quote about it being better to remain silent?
