NAHL New England

They added 2 teams in the league this year, one in Northeast, and rumor has it they are adding 1 more next year and relocating another to the New England area. Depending on how the NCDC season goes this year, think this could be the nail in the coffin for them? I hear a lot of NCDC players are still attending NAHL camps with hopes of making Gens and other teams.

Re: NAHL New England

Are you that desperate to talk **** about the NCDC that you want to speculate about 2019/20? I hear the USHL is exploring NE for 2019/20, too - wouldn't that be a more productive conversation? Oh, wait, that's right, you're not looking to have a productive conversation, are you? You just want to talk **** about the NCDC - again.

I don't recall anyone on these Boards ever claiming that NCDC was equal to NAHL - yet. It serves a need for some local families, and is therefore an asset except in the narrow minds of a few. So of course NAHL is going to draw interest from local kids. Not so much the Generals, where only kids with a ton of baby blue hockey socks in the basement will find the welcome mat laid out. Anyone else is likely to see a lot of game time from the stands.

Oh, and that new "Northeast" Team? Maryland. Not EXACTLY in New England's back yard.

Re: NAHL New England

OP here. What gives buddy? This is a discussion board, and I threw out a discussion topic? No skin in the game with either league and frankly care less. Simply starting dialogue based on what I’ve heard around the rink and with certain owners. If you read it correctly, the rumor is a relo and new. Upon further discussion I heard one location to be Connecticut and the other to be northern mass or New Hampshire.

I once thought the generals would fail. Kind of changing my view on that now though. Smart to put a feeder program from BA and 95 Giants to them. They will have to manage it properly and not just take their players however seems to be an interesting partnership. Time will tell but on paper makes sense for Generals and Lovell upper youth programs. Stick with a carrot....

Re: NAHL New England

It's funded and backed by USA hockey. It will succeed even if they have to prop it up.

Re: NAHL New England

Sorry your kid can’t beat out BA kids and make Gens

Re: NAHL New England

Why is the NAHL expanding so much? There are not enough high level players as it is, how are they going to field all of these teams..You get a team, and you get a team, and you get a team!:yum:

Re: NAHL New England

The NA isn’t really expanding that much. Went from 5 teams in East Division (including Generals who came in 2 seasons ago), which is really hard to schedule with, to 6 teams with the inclusion of the team from Maryland. Not really a ton of expansion. The league was at 24 teams 2 years ago and is back to 24 now. No teams on the plan to come in next year. If the right situation comes up maybe that changes but it isn’t the goal.

Thanks for clarifying. So many leagues seem to be just adding team after team. Glad they are attempting to keep it manageable and competitive for these kids.

Nope. Just another example of a D Boarder pretending to know more than they do.

Re: NAHL New England

Not claiming to know more than I do. What I wrote was fact. Not rumor like other ones.

Re: NAHL New England

NAHL staying at 24 teams but moving east to where the bulk of the talent is. Why? Simple. Easy toget players in local areas, which is why NCDC is basically done as anything more than what old Premier was.

NCDC ending up being a failure. USPHL was decent. Should have stayed with old model as a USA Hockey Tier 3.
Owners have burned a lot of bridges. True Junior players don't even want to be seen at their camps.

Re: NAHL New England

USHL won't come to the northeast. Strategy is clear, put a couple of NAHL teams in the area to skim off the top players who don't want to leave for the midwest and keep them away from NCDC.

EH/USPHL/NCDC kicked the bull and they are getting the horns.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to text and remove all doubt.

Re: NAHL New England

Sorry your kid can’t make the NAHL or USHL.

Yeah, but it's bothering you.
