Hard to know what the full truth is. I've read differing opinions on his remorsefulness and apologies to the victim so who knows. We used to give people shots at redemption but no longer it seems although I can't say for sure the he deserves one. Only he knows if he is truly sorry for what he did or just sorry now that it's impacting his life. Can't say that I personally feel good that he never play hockey again but perhaps if my kid were the victim I might think otherwise. Kids do stupid things and you hope when they do it's not life altering. This kids actions were a level of depravity that goes beyond being a stupid kid.
Any kid that hasn't learned right from egregiously wrong by age 14, with as many different alternate sources of information and influence as we have today, hasn't learned it at age 18. Let him pay the price.
