It's funny that the powers that be keep talking about threats to "our democracy". Leaving aside that the United States is not and has never been a democracy, it would be interesting to put these "green" policies to a democratic vote - i.e., a national referendum. I have no doubt whatsoever that a national referendum on a 2035 EV vehicle mandate, limitations on drilling and moving from coal to wind/solar would all lose big. Every one of the massive, trillion dollar spending bills would also go down in flames.

MA electric rates went up 60% on November 1. RI rates 47%. These costs are heading directly to the tuition rates for next season. I would not be surprised if we see more rinks shutting down during the warmer months than we have in the past.

Most public rinks close in the summer. But they are taxpayer funded and often lose money. Many private rinks stay open during the summer because they need the revenue. Hard to go three months with no revenue when you have loans on the real estate, building costs, etc.

And, yes, the war on energy will seriousluly damage or kill ice hockey.

I was at a rink recently that had a generator and the it cost the rink 7k a day just to run the one generator.

Perhaps rinks should consider solar panels at some point.

I see posts of people complaining about puddles on ice and it being too cold. Wake up. These are all issues that have come to rise. We keep letting in illegal aliens and end up having to support them and can't even pay for our own electricity to run things.
