Pay no attention to that poster. It's either TL or JL. Rinks will not be done in 2016. That General's organization is looking for a back up plan for the whole season. 95 Giants will be squeezed in at Raynham with whatever available ice they can get for all of this season.
This is simply not true. Generals have a great management team in place, as do the 95 Giants, and, although, all contingencies have been taken into account and planned for, there is nothing to indicate that the Generals' schedule will be changed due to the rinks at this point.
kid being dragged to the rink. Lovell has great Skills, but no magic sauce there, sorry. Many others locally just as good. Same drills, samAnswering a couple of things in one response.
1. Giants will be weak in year 1, watered down like all other Lovell teams now in year 2. Many, many programs are now like this. Kings are in same boat. Ironically, Terriers are on the rise. Go figure. Lovell is a dying program from a quality of play perspective. Great Skills though.
2. Rinks will be up and running in February 2017, just in time for next year's tryouts. Lovell knew this and had the decision to start the program this year or next and opted to take people's money this year and have them practice at 4:00pm at Raynham or through 3 teams on the ice with the Lovell Knights. Either way, some parents are going to walk and some will just be happy their kid isn't on the Town B team anymore and will pay the freight. Suckers are born every minute so there will always be a market.
3. Development. Over discussed term here. Happens many ways, at varying times. Watched a kid last weekend who left an EHF Elite team, went to a BA elite team, and his skill has completely deteriorated. He's over-skated and all the BA pressure to play summer tournaments and attend their camps has burned the kid out. Not even close to being the same type of player. Went to Lovell a kid who loves hockey, has become just another e instruction. My son has done at least 3 others that are just as good.
4. Let the kid choose the team and league. Parents continue to ruin players. Their natural ability will shine if they have it. EHF better than E9 in general, but if the kid likes the E9 team, play there.
p
That's messed up if they knew rinks wouldn't be ready until 2/17 and misled parents for the money. That's just bad business. When will they inform parents that they are shutting down Lovell Knights program?
These guys are a circus. Reminds me of VInce MacMahon from WWE.
Always have felt they just don't sweat the details. Not dishonest just focused on hockey, hockey, hockey and not business. For years on this board people have been posting they should hire one business person to handle the organization, flow of information and growth of the .... well, business. Some ex-hockey kid with a business degree or MBA, heck there is no shortage of $.

Guys are Cheap.... Don't believe it throwing some extra cash out there to provide consumers more value. Its too bad. Would be of great benefit to the program.
I have no association with Lovell Hockey, but even if the 95 Giants get off to a slow start next season, there's no doubt they are ultimately going to hit it out of the park with their new digs at the New England Sports Village. Besides being a premier sports facility, it is perfectly located to attract players from a wide area.

The Giants team camps were very well run, albeit light on attendance at 05/04 level, by their skill instructors from BA and AI.
They usually are very well run, they have been doing it for a while.... same organization just a new team.
I feel bad that these kids have to play in the E9 pool for parity because they are labeled as an Elite team, as a result of them only having one team. That is unfair and a bad way to start a season for a new team. Get mentally prepared for that weekend or those kids confidence will be gone on Friday !
Same thing for LKs. Face it, the BA ship has sailed!
Had a good thing going and greed got in the way. They are now all friends and family. I know two coaches at two different levels that they could've gotten and their kids are very good but they insist on picking the teams themselves, so they lost out. They stuck with the same coaches who can't develop or retain players. Shame. They have good skills but there's more than that to the season to keep people around.

I'm confused... so they took two kids, but wouldn't let their dads coach, so the kids are not playing??? or the dad's were willing to coach but the kids didn't get selected ?? Or the coaches left because they were not allowed to pick the teams and took the kids with them ???
if their kids didn't get selected it is prob because they are not good, because you have to be pretty bad not to make a team there. I'm assuming that you were willing to coach and you consider yourself a good coach but your kid wasn't selected ? maybe I'm reading between the lines ?
Some did well, some got smoked... but lets not forget they were forced into playing into the top E9 pool because they only have one team at each level. They would have been much better off playing in the BHL parity, with the exception of the 04 team.
Oct 14 .... There you go all you haters ...sorry your kid didn't make the team
They literally did not cut one kid at most levels and are still in need of players, so that line doesn't work here, especially when alot of kids cut went there as a last resort !

Any business just starting out needs to adapt to the marketplace. As will this business. I'm sure there will be growing pains and changes will need to be made a certain levels. However this will be the new "Flagship" program similar to BA. The location is ideal and the facility is top notch. Don't be surprised if your kid is asking you if he / she can play for the Giants in the next year or two.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about[/quote]
Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. The Kings and Caps are mediocre at best. brand new facility. Nice Area. Great Skills and Good coaching will equal a better alternative for kids in that area.
Probably... possibly.... but since I don't live in that area I am pretty confident my son wont be asking to drive further to play hockey in a new facility with a bad team. I am also willing to bet people will not be passing over other programs to play there because of the new facility. Most of the players they got so far that are not from that area were cut by LK, BA, or other programs.
Im guessing the point of the post wasnt to imply you would drive from Boston-north to play for the 95 giants. I am giving the benefit of the doubt when they said that "your kid would want to play there" was meaning the local kids. And i know most of the kids there now were probably cut from others but it is year 0 for them so lets not put the dagger through them just yet.

Might be true. When my older boy moved from an EHF team to BA when BA was just starting out everyone thought we were crazy. For a few years there it was the only place to play for a Bantams and it was the best move he could have made at the time. You never know.
The Kings and caps are probably the worst place you can have your kid play as a Bantam. At a critical juncture in their development the focus is still on just winning. Kids really need to learn how to play the game at that age. They don't need to go to practice doing the same breakout trails over and over. The best thing I did was take my kid out of that program.

Why wait until bantam? If that's your practice at squirt and peewee, then go somewhere else.
I guess if you consider that most teams will be in the American Division of the BHL in the first year. The 04 team had a legit shot at the E9 and played very well in parity. The 07 team has some good young skaters and gave some returning E9 teams a run, but in the end fell short. The 03, 05, 06 teams need some work and could easily be in the National Division of the BHL.

05's are in National and started the season off 0-1 today because they didn't have enough players.

Why would they ask to be moved to National, if it wasn't part of a penalty?
Have you seen this team ? They would have been a National team had that not gotten two wins by outside players, so it makes sense for everyone. The league the organization, the kids...
