You can email the rink owners through the website. I would suggest an email or a call and they will give you the real story.

Yes, the program has a contractual obligation to return a partial amount of your funds. Given this program will be entering the MPDHL next I would certainly recommend getting out asap.

So your kid didnt make the EHF team at tryouts 2 months ago, was now offered a spot because said EHF team lost players and is trying to fill a spot so they moved on to your son and your thinking of leaving a team that he did make to go sit on the bench at the EHF. Just do your kid a favor and keep him where he is or play tier 1 and let him develop. sitting the bench during the games and getting little focus during practice on the EHF team is not going to help your kid. only your ego of saying he plays "elite" hockey.

yes people on this board are nuts. I tried to ask a simple question and got some pretty lame responses too! can you get your money back is completely up to the organization. Some have no refund policies some dont. You unfortunately need to check with the team but to be honest i wouldn't expect it since you can obviously see the E9 and EHf are not exactly friends but they will know if your jumping ship so expect push back.

Re: 95 Giants

Anyone know who the 04 and 05 coaches will be?

Re: 95 Giants

Some of you act so surprised that you get the responses that you get on this board. Let me give you a hint...when you ask people stupid questions in real life, this is what they are thinking. Of course, most of us are too polite to tell you what we really think, but this is what we're thinking. So if you are consistently feeling like you are treated rudely on this board, it's likely that you ask stupid questions and in real life too, and people think you are a boor.

The vitriol responses are because the Nerds from high school that got picked on all the time and couldnt actually play hockey now have kids who are playing and they are trying to live their glory days through them, can also now sit behind a keyboard and try and act tough. Haha, so true. The majority of club hockey parents never played hockey or a competitive sport for that matter. It's comical to hear them at games discussing this and that, trying to act like a knowledge wizard. Before and after games they run up to the coach like he is a NHL star kissing ass.

05 and 07 teams definitely full and look decent. Could possibly compete at EHF tier 1 white division. 04 and 06 teams not so much, neither team has a goalie or full roster. Rink on target for 2017.

Your definition of "decent" and mine must differ. They will build a decent program eventually but to say that they are looking decent is a stretch.

you might be right, but how would you know if they haven't played a game yet? It is a new program and it will not rock the hockey foundations in year 1. what I would be looking for is a good coach, good skills program and a decent group of parents. in this order. Everyone who makes you believe that in order to succeed at the age of 14 and above you need to play in a certain league at the age of 8-10 is blowing hot air.

Cant beat Lovell skills, that is for sure. Parents are a great point that is often overlooked. But being present at the evals for some of those teams and being familiar with a group of kids from one of the teams. There will be a steep learning curve.

Who was criticizing the kids? Pointing out the Chest pumping parent about summer hardware is the point. Im sure the kids worked real hard no matter what level it was. Still does not take away the fact that summer competition is much lower than the regular season and a "grown man" is all pumped up about it.

Re: 95 Giants

So I need to have played hockey for my kid to perform at a high level? I never played or wanted to play hockey, can barely skate for that matter, but my kid actually wants to be at the rink. The decision to play hockey was his, not his dads who maybe played D3 hockey and is forcing hockey in his kid.
Everyone knows the kid/father im talking about...the dad, maybe asst coach but most likely the blowhard in the stands, who is happy to tell everyone how good he was while his kids favorite part of going to practice is playing on his ipad in the locker room. The part i like the most is seeing the faces of you has been, douche bags when my kid is out performing your kid.
Too bad for you, more kids are playing hockey now...its not like 20-30 years ago when anyone who knew how to skate played D3.

I'll bite. I'll give you the website one (although with so many coaches being terrible communicators I find I have to rely on the website for accurate game information), but if having a rational schedule, reasonable parity, and keeping ridiculous politics out aren't important when selecting a club team, what is in your Top 3?

1 - Development

2 - skill acquisition by means of high level skill instruction

3 - Development/coaching

and I like the pre season parity as opposed to the end of season parity for next season, also, schedules for hockey seem pretty basic to me, what is not rational about the E9 schedule ?

That's only one thing. Development and skill acquisition are the same thing.

And, which programs would you say do development well?

We all want development for our kids. The sad truth is, it's really hard to find. Coaches that are not active in teaching skills today (i.e., most Daddy Coaches) aren't teaching the modern game. And any coach that IS active in teaching tends to get hamstrung by the program and parents to win and to play the "right" kids. Which are usually the uncoachable kids with influential parents.

Best thing to do is find an active skills coach that is reasonable to work with, reliable, that runs good practices. And work with him, or whomever you want, outside of the team for development. Nobody can give individual attention to 15 kids.

Hear you on coaches not teaching the right things. Have run into this a ton of times where the coach yells at my kid to do something this way when he has really qualified skills coaches teaching him the way it's being done at the top levels of the game. I really don't care how you were told to do it, Coach, that was in the 80's.

Thanks for recognizing the sarcasm and letting everyone else know that it is one thing. Thanks for making my point again !

I'm looking for skill acquisition and development (both as a player and an individual)

I don't care what league, what level or where the games are played. People can bash the Lovells and the BHL/E9 all they want on here but I regularly see kids from other programs at their walk on skills ! and if my choices of programs were the Bandits at the EHF Elite level or the Knights at the BHL level. I would take the Lovell skills over the EHF games all day !

Then you're a blue kool-aid drinking sucker. My kid's done Lovell skills. They are very good, but they're not the be-all, end-all skills instructors.

Competitive games also play a role in skill development. You can't just skate around cones. You are not going to play against top kids in the BHL, especially not in National. The speed is going to be completely different, goaltending, etc etc etc.

Have your kid play for the best team in the best level of play he is capable of making, regardless of league. And go outside of that team for skill development in 1:1 or small group lessons.

Now, what are your second and third reasons? And enjoy that four hour ride up to Burlington!

Re: 95 Giants

kid being dragged to the rink. Lovell has great Skills, but no magic sauce there, sorry. Many others locally just as good. Same drills, samAnswering a couple of things in one response.

1. Giants will be weak in year 1, watered down like all other Lovell teams now in year 2. Many, many programs are now like this. Kings are in same boat. Ironically, Terriers are on the rise. Go figure. Lovell is a dying program from a quality of play perspective. Great Skills though.

2. Rinks will be up and running in February 2017, just in time for next year's tryouts. Lovell knew this and had the decision to start the program this year or next and opted to take people's money this year and have them practice at 4:00pm at Raynham or through 3 teams on the ice with the Lovell Knights. Either way, some parents are going to walk and some will just be happy their kid isn't on the Town B team anymore and will pay the freight. Suckers are born every minute so there will always be a market.

3. Development. Over discussed term here. Happens many ways, at varying times. Watched a kid last weekend who left an EHF Elite team, went to a BA elite team, and his skill has completely deteriorated. He's over-skated and all the BA pressure to play summer tournaments and attend their camps has burned the kid out. Not even close to being the same type of player. Went to Lovell a kid who loves hockey, has become just another e instruction. My son has done at least 3 others that are just as good.

4. Let the kid choose the team and league. Parents continue to ruin players. Their natural ability will shine if they have it. EHF better than E9 in general, but if the kid likes the E9 team, play there.

pretty accurate post well done Sir !

well, except for the one about the kid whose skill has completely deteriorated and is not the same player in one year. Is it possible he is just playing with kids with better skills and it appears that he is not as good as he appeared with the other team ?

because a kid's skills do not deteriorate at the rate you suggest, what happens is other kids progress and the elite players from the previous year no longer look as elite !

Took a ride by the rink the other day barley framed up October may be a stretch. Just sayin

Re: 95 Giants

Pay no attention to that poster. It's either TL or JL. Rinks will not be done in 2016. That General's organization is looking for a back up plan for the whole season. 95 Giants will be squeezed in at Raynham with whatever available ice they can get for all of this season.

Re: 95 Giants

👍 thanks for the link ...great news

Re: 95 Giants

lets put all posts on this thread. then we can get to 100 pages and that would be fun

Re: 95 Giants

just wait until after parity and the rink not opening, this thread will really take off then !

Re: 95 Giants

Development is 60 percent growing into your natural ability, 35 percent hard work, and 5 percent which instructor teaches you skills.

Re: 95 Giants

Can we just end the 95 Giants thread?

Re: 95 Giants

This is simply not true. Generals have a great management team in place, as do the 95 Giants, and, although, all contingencies have been taken into account and planned for, there is nothing to indicate that the Generals' schedule will be changed due to the rinks at this point.

kid being dragged to the rink.

EHF better than E9 in general, but if the kid likes the E9 team, play there.
p

That's messed up if they knew rinks wouldn't be ready until 2/17 and misled parents for the money. That's just bad business. When will they inform parents that they are shutting down Lovell Knights program?

These guys are a circus. Reminds me of VInce MacMahon from WWE.

Re: 95 Giants

Always have felt they just don't sweat the details. Not dishonest just focused on hockey, hockey, hockey and not business. For years on this board people have been posting they should hire one business person to handle the organization, flow of information and growth of the .... well, business. Some ex-hockey kid with a business degree or MBA, heck there is no shortage of $.

Guys are Cheap.... Don't believe it throwing some extra cash out there to provide consumers more value. Its too bad. Would be of great benefit to the program.

Re: 95 Giants

This is the program to be in next season. Just look at the support this thread has gotten. Incredible!

Re: 95 Giants

Rink estimated to be up mid October !

This will be the place to be for sure. Can't wait until rink opens in 2017!

October 14, 2016.....put it on the board!

Re: 95 Giants

Lovell told me December 1.

Re: 95 Giants

I have no association with Lovell Hockey, but even if the 95 Giants get off to a slow start next season, there's no doubt they are ultimately going to hit it out of the park with their new digs at the New England Sports Village. Besides being a premier sports facility, it is perfectly located to attract players from a wide area.

Thank you Timmy!

Re: 95 Giants

The Giants team camps were very well run, albeit light on attendance at 05/04 level, by their skill instructors from BA and AI.

They usually are very well run, they have been doing it for a while.... same organization just a new team.

I feel bad that these kids have to play in the E9 pool for parity because they are labeled as an Elite team, as a result of them only having one team. That is unfair and a bad way to start a season for a new team. Get mentally prepared for that weekend or those kids confidence will be gone on Friday !

Re: 95 Giants

Same thing for LKs. Face it, the BA ship has sailed!
Had a good thing going and greed got in the way. They are now all friends and family. I know two coaches at two different levels that they could've gotten and their kids are very good but they insist on picking the teams themselves, so they lost out. They stuck with the same coaches who can't develop or retain players. Shame. They have good skills but there's more than that to the season to keep people around.

I'm confused... so they took two kids, but wouldn't let their dads coach, so the kids are not playing??? or the dad's were willing to coach but the kids didn't get selected ?? Or the coaches left because they were not allowed to pick the teams and took the kids with them ???

if their kids didn't get selected it is prob because they are not good, because you have to be pretty bad not to make a team there. I'm assuming that you were willing to coach and you consider yourself a good coach but your kid wasn't selected ? maybe I'm reading between the lines ?

what level(s) are you speaking of ?

Giants have posted the coaches for every team on their website.

How did these teams do in parity?

Some did well, some got smoked... but lets not forget they were forced into playing into the top E9 pool because they only have one team at each level. They would have been much better off playing in the BHL parity, with the exception of the 04 team.

1 2 3 4 5
