When you play in the EMHL, or EHF Tier 1 (AA) there is no ladder climbing, face it your bender sticks the only question left is how much money you want to spend for it.
EMHL is low town level hockey B/C tops. Some levels are stronger than others, but don't waste your money. Less and less teams every year in the league.
They are made of of kids who are on town 3/4 teams or kid that get cut (yup, we cut 4 kids at squirts, all play EMHL now) and cashing in on parents who have never played the game. So for the owners they love it. Its a cash cow for them. they never thought parents would be dumb enough to pay for it but they actually do.
Kids don't take it serious, just the parents do. That goes for any level of youth hockey. To say town kids don't care is ridiculous.
Good luck or your decision, but if he's a Town A kid, even a 2/3 team kid and your happy, just stay put. Our town 2 team played an EMHL team last year, and destroyed them. That 2 team went a little over .500 in the league they play in. EMHL team was near the top of their division. Same thing at the Bantam level.
Do not forget that the mighty 02 Bulldog team tore up the Emhl and then gave it to the Tier 1 White division.
I would argue that the BHL National is not as good as town hockey.
Don't listen to the negative idiots that think their kids are going to the NHL. They're part of the problem with youth sports and never competed at any high levels in sports,or they would be so ignorant to the matter.
The EMHL is a good building block. Depending on the team and level . The majority of EMHL kids are more intense and serious about their development than town league from my experiences. It all depends on your kids motivation and passion. If he wants more bring him to EMHL. I did in mites with my boys, and they both play for Top Five EHF(Black) currently.
Also, research the coach and team. Some EMHL teams are marginal as well. Like any team at any level.
Thanks to the people who took time to answer the question. To the others, shame on you for bashing 10 year olds. Do your research....plenty of NHL guys who got cut over and over as youngsters....kept at it....and made a pay day for themselves.
EMHL is the same as the top level of Town B. The extra money gets you more ice time, a set schedule for the year and probably more chance for tournament play. Like more levels of youth hockey some kids progress past it and some kids don't.
