anything HS age is a different topic. By this point you pretty much weed out the lower level kids who end up going back to town hockey for the 2 months before they play D2-3 HS or if they are lucky D1 JV teams.
I just don't understand, whatsoever, why ANY team from the E9 or EHF would go over to the MPDHL, or whatever they intend to rename it?? At the ages that I've seen play, that league is so much weaker than the E9 and EHF, with the exception of maybe 1 team per age group at the highest level. Most of those teams would have a hard time competing with the EMHL. Maybe I'm wrong here, but the most experience I've had was playing a MPDHL "Elite" team, and it was a complete joke, I think it was 7-0 after the 1st period.
The top premier teams are basically the equivalent of the top tier 1 teams in the EHF, same as BHL American. Agree that anything below premier is a waste of money for parents.
Mphl is a joke because whoever runs it is a moron!! Last year they had an 05 Sprinfield team that got killed every game by 15 + goals in the top division "premiere". The kids would be crying, humiliated and down right embarrassed every game! We felt so bad for those kids. The kids would have to drive 4-6 hours for away games to get kicked over and over. Plus other teams had to drive the same distance to kill another team. They wouldn't drop them down they wouldn't call mercy half way through... We would have our top players stay home and have lower half of the team mandatory pass 3 times and still kill them. It was awful. The second half of that 05 premier league was awful ..!! I am assume other age groups were the same. Our team left no way we were doing that again.
Not happening this year, but it's definitely happening next year and the effect will be complete opposite of what captain Fed is preaching here. They are adding a Tier 1 level, not to be confused with the feds tier 2 level that they just name tier 1 for ego purposes.
Think about it. Your kid plays on a crappy fed tier 1 afterthought team. I'm talking to you caps, Kings, top gun, bandits, basically everyone in that league at the second level. If your kid is any good on a fed tier 1 team or a bottom feeder on an EHF elite team having an option that is between the top fed teams and their joke of a tier 1 level you're opting to play a legit tier 1 team all day long instead of being on a number two team option in a tier 2 league. It's a no-brainer that the competition level will only increase because of this in that new league.
This move basically eliminates the second levels in both the Fed and E9/BHL Now whether it continues to water down hockey in the area in general is a totally different discussion.
Boston stars, Crimson and other crappy programs are all getting the boot. They will end up in the EMHL, and affiliate of the fed.
A real data point to consider is the top four teams at the premier level in the MPDHL have competed against the top tier 1 teams in the Fed as well as too BHL teams and beat the tar out of the mid to lower level teams in both leagues for the last few years.
Sorry but unless at the elite level the Fed is now just any old joke of a league.
Not a chance. Look at the joke of USPHL teams at youth level. Crappy and mid tier 2 teams last year trying to play up. Fed won't fall for this and doesn't change. Sorry.
Tier 2 Junior hockey does not have a chance in New England. Jersey Hitmen lost to the Kings today 10 to nothing. Good luck in your new league!
