Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

E9 parent
I'm not saying E9 is better, and I agree the top fed teams are probably stronger (at most levels), but talk is only talk. Hockey is only a game. You will win some and lose some. The name on your shirt or the league you play in does't matter. What matters, your kid is having fun, is challenged in a competitive environment, well coached, continues to develop, etc.....

The problem is, doing what's best for the kids does not align with doing what's best for the business. Until we can get those interests aligned, this will never happen.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

I'm a fed parent and I agree. The problem is the fed coaches and owners like to suck in their guts and puff their chests. They don't want to take the chance they may get beat. I asked my org owner the same question and his answer was "we would have nothing to gain ,only something to lose , in a game vs a e9 team". Meaning if fed wins, they are supposed to win, if fed loses....... Oh boy

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

It's been like this for years. EHF honchos have always feared their brand getting exposed. Years ago Sgt. Hulka had an independent team out of Rockland and the only time they could play against EHF teams is in some end of season, out of the way tournaments. The Selects teams would show-up and they would play scrimmages at least.

If you keep telling people your brand is better and refuse to be challenged, then it must be true....right?

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

This tread falls into the 1% of dboard threads, which actually is a serious, constructive, conversation that answers a question that many hockey families from both leagues ask.
I have been reading the dboard for years mainly for entertainment, this was my first ever post. Keep up the good work posters!

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

OK fantasy time:

- EHF and E9 league play through January.
- Top four in each division advance to interleague play.
- Bottom 5/6 combine for interleague play.
- February and early March is all crossover games between top/top and bottom/bottom teams.
- New England champion crowned in mid March from top half interleague play.
- Consolation champion crowned from lower half interleague play.

This allows EHF to keep their Q bids, keeps the leagues separate so owners hold on to their franchises, but promotes competition between the top players in the region. I think the Q bids would give the EHF an advantage for drawing players, so their brand probably wouldn't suffer.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

A. yes all business and I might do the same if I had that much invested
B. Several E9 teams just played EHF teams in the super series 3 days ago
C. these are 7-12 year old kids, why on earth do you care if the different teams play each other. This is classic parent issues. This has nothing to do with kids and the sports it is insecure parents. I can't think of a reason a Parent needs to know if one squirt team is better than another... who cares....
D. oh and are we finally all set with the vipers not going to the Elite EHF did they not get killed all weekend?

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

I think it's all about protecting business interests and nothing to do with insecure parents.

If you want to play teams outside your league its SIMPLE. Play in tournaments. There are tons of local and national and international tournaments your coach can sign up for and play against EHF teams. Its not a secret.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

You say that, but look at the recent Super Series. The Patriots were in it and didn't get 1 EHF team scheduled. You will blame it on the fact that they want to put like teams together, but simply that is not true. The Patriots could have played several EHF teams that were in the tourney. No?

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

YES!!

The Avalanche, Patriots, and BA had ZERO games against EHF teams. Your theory would be great if it worked, but the EHF owners wont let it happen.

How do you explain that?

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

Boston Break out score in '06 not sure if other ages prove you more wrong

1 Boston Advantage

4 Boston Jr. Eagles

Because the point of Super Series is to play teams out of area that you may normally not play. Why play in a Super Series if you get scheduled teams in your league who you play all the time. Thats the reason why Super Series are showcases and not tournament format.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

So...E9 teams - you can enter a Super Series tourney to play EHF teams, no need for cross over games.

Oh by the way if you do enter a tourney we aren't going to play you against any EHF teams.

Great logic.

If you want to play EHF teams then enter TOURNAMENTS. Super Series are not Tournaments. Coaches usually ask to play out of state teams in Super Series so they can play new teams. Common sense stuff really.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

Heard the E9 voted over the summer no longer enter EHF sponsored tourneys. There have been some shenanigans in the past year or so with a few E9 teams who registered to play in tourneys.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

All the more for a State Cup!

How fun would that be. So many other sports do it.

They do it for U14 and older. Its called the State tournament.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

Let start where we all can agree - We can all agree that suburban Boston teams dominated this past weekend. It was obvious we have better programs, coaches, players than the rest of the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic. Flyers are the only team from this past weekend that showed anything - and they draw from an area 4 times the size of 495 beltway.

A reasonable person would also agree that there are teams in the EHF that don't belong in the EHF as well as teams in the E9. Reasonable people can agree that both leagues are watered down with weak teams and weak players.

We all know this when the spring comes along and the best players can play with and against each other that we have amazing talent and insanely competitive games. How about those games against Blue Chip's and Lightning the past few years? Awesome hockey and its right here!

It to bad that the best teams in the EHF and E9 cant play each other. We all are losing out - we can agree with that.

Re: WTF just schedule cross over games during season

Well said! Totally agree.
