Good program?

Re: Seacoast

Very well run, seems like they are challenged to get good top to bottom talent up there, but excellent coaches and skills.

Re: Seacoast

agreed

Re: Seacoast

Yes, good program - got rid of a few riff raff parents last year that were cancers. Now much better, especially at the 03 level.

Re: Seacoast

Who runs the skills?

Re: Seacoast

They have some of their top in house coaches run skills for many (maybe all) of the levels. They run 1:20 min skill sessions split up with a lot of edge work and puck drills. Usually have 2 goalies on the ice as well during the drills.

Agreed, good skills, and a decent program. As another poster said, some 03 level headache parents left last year which helped there as well, addition by subtraction.

Re: Seacoast

I have a son playing this program, the skills are good not great, they have two practices a week one of them being skills.the other practice is a half sheet team practice. Both are 80 minutes long. I would like to have a sheet for another team practice .
The coach is great with the kids and very knowledgable with game itself.

Re: Seacoast

My son is playing there as well, 80 min sheets are nice, we have also gotten a couple full ice sheets in addition, not every week, but twice already and coach expects a couple more before end of year.

The focus of the Spartan program has always been about development, this was started way back by Chris Grassie, and before that his father. it looks like the current ownership/management is keeping it the same. This is why for years, Spartan teams get better as the season goes along, because the kids figure out the team component of the game. I know that parents get all wrapped up in wins & loses, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Hopefully the onslaught of daddy coach's in this program doesn't change that. Good luck
