Any rules about girls playing in Elite boys not being allowed to play down with girls?
My daughter plays for a tier 1 girls club team and she recently played a team that had a girl that clearly plays for a high level boys team (wearing pants and helmet stickers for that team, didn't recognize the colors so not sure where she plays). I heard some of the parents saying that the girl isn't even really on the team and plays on a boys team. This girl would just take over the game and it seems kinda ridiculous for her to be playing honestly. Are there rules saying that if a girl is playing at a certain level for boys she can't play girls? I know it's seems mean but it doesn't help either team to have a girl like that out there and I'm not sure why she or her parents even want her to play. I know there are rules like that in boys hockey, about playing down.

Are you kidding me? How old? Isn't tier1 the top level for girls'? If so you are an idiot, that's like saying that a kid is too good to play in the elite division of the EHF or in the E9. If there is a a rule there shouldn't be.

Agree 100% but, depending on age level, I seriously doubt she is playing Elite boys hockey. I have kids in the EHF and E9 and you really don't see many if any girls.

I know of one girl but I am sure it is not the one he is talking about.

Oh it has happened over the years. At some point she will find it kind of worthless to play in any girls games...sooner rather than later and at some point she will find it too dangerous to play with the boys later rather than sooner.

What age ? I have only seen one or two girls playing elite level boys hockey, and they actually compete but are very very far from dominating or regularly contributing.
With that said, maybe mom and dad want her to play with girls so that she can play where she is the best player, and maybe she wants to as well. Nothing wrong with wanting to be the best player on your team.
Its no different from kids being part of an elite team, yet feeling that they don't contribute like they would and enjoy moving down to a Teir 1 or AAA team, where parents will complain they should not be playing down, but they are truly just a Good Tier1/AAA player.
It is probably just a bit more noticeable this situation because of the drop off on most girls teams after the top few players.
Use it as a learning tool instead of complaining and making excuses !Ask her if she wants to be able to play like that, or be able to impact a game like that ? and if so playing against people like that is the way to make it happen !
Re: Any rules about girls playing in Elite boys not being allowed to play down with girls?
pretty sure 05 Patriots E9, 06 LK E9, 03 Bandits EHF elite all have girls - not as uncommon as you might think. I don't know if any of them play girls hockey though...
Re: Any rules about girls playing in Elite boys not being allowed to play down with girls?
used to be girls on 07 LK E9, 05 Bandits EHF Elite and 06 Breakers EHF Elite but I think they have all moved to girls so it might be one of them... LK would be black with yellow stripe, Bandits would be black with red and white stripe and I think breakers normally just wear plain black. Could be a good tier 1 player too, there are plenty of girls playing in the tier 1 division or in the bhl

Might be the girl from the 07 LK or maybe a Tier 1 player like you say, I thought pants were black with gold or orange stripes but hey definitely could have been yellow. If she has moved to girls hockey then so be it, I guess I will use it as motivation like ppl suggesting

Lets not forget the girl who plays for 04 MMF. I'm pretty sure she can skate around any boy at that level
Ok, dad, I'm sure next season when she moves up, life is going to be a bit different.
If she is like most other top end girls she won't be playing boys hockey next year. Risk of a head injury isn't worth it for a girl like that who has a ton of potential in front of her.

My son's team plays against the 06 LK, the only girl on that team is the goalie - the big defenseman with really long hair is a boy

There is a girl defensman on that team, she happens to have short hair. Very good little player.... and did you just assume someones gender based on their hair ?
and for the record, that Dman's mullet is sweet !!

Okay...my bad. I didn't realize there was a short haired female dman. oops... And yah, one of the only clear indicators of gender with hockey players is hair length. And for the record, mullets aren't sweet once you leave the trailer park unless your name is Joe Dirt

All these "very good little players" can't compete at the elite level and the only way they make elite teams is if they are charity cases, coaches' daughters or daughters of coaches' friends. You are touching yourself if you think they belong in the elite leagues, they hurt their teams and should make room for a kid that can contribute and help the team. They don't have the strength the speed or the competitive edge to hang with the top level boys- it's just biology. I have been doing this for a long time and never seen a girl play at that level and not hurt their team - sorry PC crybabies, no safe space here, just truth...

FU, nothing to do with my kid, they just shouldn't be playing boys hockey - if they all moved to girls hockey then girls hockey would be more competitive and so would boys hockey - delusional to pretend I'm wrong

WTF is your problem buddy? You couldn't be more wrong, the deck is stacked against any girl trying to earn or keep a spot on an elite level team. No way any coach keeps a girl on the team as the weakest player and no way any coach takes a girl on the team unless she is at least in the top half of the roster. So you just don't want your kid going head to head with a girl that might actually beat him??? You're the one touching yourself, tell Johnny to up his game if he wants to keep his spot cuz litte Sally is gunning for him!

Haha - did I touch a nerve? you literally do not know what you are talking about. It mostly gets resolved by the time checking comes into the equation. until then - if a girl can hang with the boys and beat out other boys for spots on the team, there is no valid reason not to have that girl on the team.

Love this thread. Talk about neanderthal thinking!
Take a note, guys. If you find yourself referring to specific groups as "them" and "they" you are probably displaying bias.
Are you implying that displaying bias is inherently wrong or bad? We display bias constantly in life and it is a big part of how we all are capable of functioning in life - get over it... literally

Wait until your daughter is a U16/U19 and tryouts for her program are filled with players from all over North America that need a new Sunday only club team close to their prep school. The players from the boys' team will be the least of your problem.
