Why are you on the site? Why are you paying a premium to have your child play on a "elite" team?

Thank God for the Dboard! I am going to talk to the coach tomorrow and see what his plan will to improve the team. If i dont like the answer, I will try to undermine his authority so he will get fired. At least the benders will be gone and he will be done! Great advice from the Dboard.

Real issue on our team. Owners don't care about skill or ability. They care about money. Three extra benders is $9k.

OP....are you really asking this question. At the 05 level??? First off, it's a business. Go tell the coach someone else's kid doesn't belong and it might just get you an unwanted evaluation of your own kid or better yet your walking papers. Then you'll find yourself scrambling to find a new team....with guess what......the same situation ...... because.....it's a business! Focus on your own elite kid and enjoy watching him play. He will be in a beer league sooner than you think reaching into the cooler with those same benders you're dying to talk to the coach about. Fact.

You sound angry! Maybe you were a bender, then a daddy coach of benders and your kid is carring on the bender tradition. You must have been undermined by parents of true elite players whose kids are NHL bound. Its ok that your dreams are crushed. the world needs people to dig holes and fill them up.

I find it astonishing that a parent would even have this thought cross their mind. "kids who don't belong at the elite level"... I'm 99.9% confident you're just a "dad". Just like everyone else. Why do you bother evaluating any other kid but your own? If you really want an "elite" team and you think your kid is elite simply build your own team. Put all the top kids you've so carefully evaluated with your incredible eye for talent and put together an independent schedule. Plenty of tournaments and teams that will play. There's nothing worse than a "has been" or "never was" on his soap box about a kid that isn't up to snuff. It will work itself out. Keep your cake hole shut and focus little jimmy on his own opportunities to get better. Generally people who complain are the ones looking to point fingers and not take accountability.

kids who don't belong at the elite level should go back to town and stop taking ice time from kids that do belong. how will anybody get better when there are kids who cant execute, compete and think at the elite level. they can play for their town team and get a star sticker for a great job! just sayin...

we don't, and maybe you are best at evaluating, but we do know you are on this board instead of showing some stones and telling 'those' parents --- maybe me included, they don't belong. i'd love to see your reaction when i respond 'yes my kid sucks but i know it, what are you going to do about it'. i'll answer for you --- nothing. yes, i have done it before, it really shuts people like you down.

True talent doesn't get "held back" by the performance (or non-performance) of others.

If you're using this as an excuse you haven't come to the realization your kid isn't as good as you think he is.

I don't understand why this thread has created all this emotion? I would guess it is better for the boys to be in the right situation. If they struggle, then they should be in a better place to succeed? Even if it means they get cut. I understand Frustrated and his/her position. just saying...

It is better to be in the right situation. No doubt. Look back at my posts. I do understand that frustration.But why does a parent need to stick their nose in it? It will work itself out. It's clearly a case of someone who feels inadequate and anxious about their own self worth. Just sayin'...

parents suck and they ruin it for the kids. whether they are benders or all-stars, does not matter, they all suck!

especially if the kid is a bender because they are aware that everybody is talking about them behind there back when the kid does not belong on the ice...

I agree that the parents ruin the experience for the kids. Bender or not, this is youth hockey and it should be fun for the kids.

How'd they get a spot on the team? The fact is they are either just as good as your little Crosby or your "elite" team isn't elite enough to attract enough talent to fill the roster with kids who are as amazing as your perfect little athlete. You are just like every other loser hockey dad that will have a washed up wannabe by 15 - go ahead and blame everyone else for failure. If you want your kid to have any shot in this sport you need to let go of the victim attitude and focus on what your son can do to improve results. You won't though because you are a born loser so finish smoking your lung dart, head back into the trailer, wrap up that episode of Springer you're working on and start training little Gretzky to score you 40s from the fridge.

No it's not, it's about participation. That's why we have so many teams. Participation = profits. If it were about development you wouldn't see 70 game schedules at the Mite level. At some point you will understand that you have to go outside of your team to develop your kid. Or he won't be "elite" by age 16.

Yea, Too bad there are only about 20 "elite" kids at each age level in all of New England ! So, sit back and act accordingly !

What do you do if 95% of a team is out of place and has teenagers upstairs assuring you that it will get better despite them having no experience?
