Re: MPHL 05

Whatever. Hurricanes are a joke as is mpdhl. Paying all that cash and you can't even beat A level town teams and would lose to 07 elite teams in the fed.

Make sure you wear your team gear to the rink this weekend.

so they are a joke but destroyed every EHF T1 Black team in the tourney this weekend. And yes there were only mid-level EHF teams. all of this EHF nonsense is a joke, apart from the top half of the elite leagues. get over yourselves.....

How are the teams in MPHL 05 overall in comparison to the Boston Stars ? Saw them get annihilated by Tier 1 and Town teams over the weekend by 10+ goals a game and only scoring 3 or 4 all weekend.

This seemed to be a theme with the two Stars team this weekend in a very very low level tournament. I cant imagine that this is the overall skill in this league and how does the stars organization stay afloat ??

I was almost ready to give your team the credit it deserves but you guys always have to overstate your record, it looks like a good team not a great team, the best EHF team that you beat was is sixth in the league and won't qualify for the Feb Invitational. Yes, the MPDHL is awful and this team looks like it did the right thing by switching to independent schedule but I have never seen you guys play and I have no idea what makes it successful. At the AAA Peewee minor level it only takes 2-3 top players and a good goalie to make a team dominate, if that is the case then the parents of those kids are making a mistake by not putting them on an EHF Elite team where even the bad teams are playing great competition every game.

One last point about trashing the EHF AAA teams, everybody seems to forget that those teams are their organizations "B" times so you are playing against their top 15-30 players and 3rd and 4th best goalies while you are rolling out the best that you got. Keep it in perspective!

All roads end at Beer League!

Re: MPHL 05

This is a great little team lead by a guy who really knows hockey and how to coach kids. The coach's only goal for his players is development and it shows. The coach knows exactly who they are and where they rank compared to other teams. He doesn't think they are better than they are. They didn't choose to go independent they had no other choice. It's hard to be in an organization where your team is better than the rest and there is no place for you. I think their 07 team is 13-1 in MPHL so they are coming along also. All this team is trying to do is find good competitive games against other New England teams. They don't care what league or what ranking as long as they have a good game. They don't think they are top of EHF elite or E9. They would probably be in the middle of E9 and above the bottom teams of 2005 EHF elite. They don't want bragging rights or say much at all (looks like one rogue parent did, I think every team has that parent). All they are looking for is to play in a league that fits their level. Their coach entered them in a decent tournament last month in Rochester not because he thought they could win but to show his players that level of competition. They held their own in the tournament and did not get smacked like some fool mentioned earlier. They won a game, lost a game in OT and then lost the others by 4-5 goals. That is actually better than they thought they would do. If you had seen them play this past weekend in the EHF tournament you would have seen great goal tending who only let up 2 goals in 6 games. I think 9 out of 13 kids scored more than twice, I would call that deep and not a team that has only 3 good players. They have played 24 games this season and their record is 16-6-2. They won 2 out of 3 tournaments they entered. Their is no reason for these kids to move to EHF elite when they have a coach like they do. They just need a league to play in with competitive games. I think it would be great for other teams in Mass to have one more team to play against that would give them a decent fight. No need to bash a team that has no stake in the game. This board is just adults bashing little kids sports it is insane. I played hockey in college, have 2 older kids one played EHF Elite and one is in E9 so I know the system.

The funny part is that you have been waiting for the opportunity to make this post since 9/30. This team hasn't been any EHF elite teams. Try to enter a few real elite tourneys but until then pipe down and enjoy the independents. If you insist on proving yourselves reach out to coaches for scrimmages and drive to their rinks, pay for the ice / refs build relationships with coaches in the area so the will scrimmage you. Pounding your chest on here and saying your team pulls from a tiny demographic (this is incorrect by the way) won't get you anywhere.

That is rich coming from the same people that stated they couldn't even beat town teams. keep beating your EHF chest!! I don't need to get anywhere. I am happy where I am.

Re: MPHL 05

Two completely different 05 Hurricanes teams guys!! GET A CLUE!

Re: MPHL 05

The Indy team played in a decent tourney back in October and got smacked around pretty good. They also barely beat the Conqys NEPHL.

GET A CLUE HURRICANE DAD.

Believe it or not I checked out what prior poster said and it's correct. The team lost all their games in previous tournament that had competitive teams playing in it but they did win against lower end teams at the bog.

Re: MPHL 05

They'd be a middle of the road '05 EHF Tier 1 Black team at best, which is really good for a team of kids from Plymouth and Cape Cod. However, for the sake of keeping all the egos in check and the kids not thinking they are too great, it might have been better to split the team and have two balanced 05 teams for league play rather than what they did - and then still put them together as a tourney team throughout the season.

You sir. are an idiot. Why ? so your kid isn't stuck on the "bottom" team

Re: MPHL 05

Have you reviewed the independent teams schedule? I mean really? Most of those kids would have a hard time competing at Peewee A level. Wow they beat an 04 select team. Get a clue!

Re: MPHL 05

They don't have egos they know exactly where they would fit in. No bragging and or chest pumping. They have played 24 games and much more competitive than last year.

It's not "pumping" it's "thumping" They'd fit in the BHL. Maybe play in to the E9 on a good day. End of discussion.

thump! thump!

Re: MPHL 05

It will all evaporate next season with the new owner when kids go play elsewhere !

or as soon as they realize that they can get 40 games for the same price against the same competition !

Re: MPHL 05

ummm they pay half as much as you do and they play 40 games! Already played 24 and its November. Next........

you guys are too funny. they beat the terriers this weekend. and yes i know the terriers are second rate for a black team but they have won some games, and not only did they beat them, they beat them 9-0. so i bet they can give the higher ranked teams at least a game. and no, no-one pretended they would beat the top 05 elite teams, but again my guess is they could play with some elite teams. keep thumping your chest though, it is all good.

That was Terriers white team dummy! Let me explain how it works in EHF:
Elite - programs best team or A level
Black - programs middle team or B level
White - programs worst team or C level

The 05 Hurricanes Elite team beat the Terriers C team 9-0.

Wrong again, the Terriers have two teams, White and Red, who happen to play both in the T1 Black division. Don't explain to me how it works, if you know sh*t about anything.

...so now you can move the goalpost and rant about how it still doesn't matter, because they haven't beaten an "Elite" team. No one, as far as I am concerned cares about beating the EHF "Elite", all I care is that it is a good hockey team that can hold its own. However, every time someone states that fact, EHF dads get all in a huff because that can't be, right, there is no such thing in this universe where good hockey teams exist outside the EHF. And getting EHF dads in a huff is a lot of fun, and that is all I care about. Carry on.

Wait...you're confusing everyone. Is all you care about good hockey or getting EHF dad's in a huff?

Let's look at this from a conservative perspective. You have some decent players, you like your coach and you basically cleaned up the MPHL. If that's your definition of "good hockey" than so be it. This thread (not necessarily you) has indicated feeling quite strongly about the strength of the team. Conservatively speaking, based on matchups and scores, it would be a good select level team. After all, isn't that all you really care about?

So now you bring select hockey into the equation? What is select hockey? Talking about being confusing. Other than that, I do admit, sometimes this whole EHF hoohaa gets a bit much, but pressing their buttons is still fun. Listen, I had a conversation, a while ago, with a coach that I trust a lot, a goalie coach, who runs his own school, is very successful and produces results. This is what he said - The EHF without a doubt is the better league of the three, but it doesn't mean you get the better development out of it, hockey players have a hundred possible roads to get where they want to get. So I go with coach first, team second, parents and league third. Everyone here believes he has figured it out, and that's fine with me. I go with what I feel is best for my kids development. I admit, the first two being equal I would probably go with an EHF team, but when do you ever get that? So, I will take a good coach over the league on any given day.
You might disagree and think that playing for an EHF elite team gives your kid the best chance of succeeding, maybe you even think that the coaches in the EHF are better throughout. I am ok with that argument. What I find laughable are statements that an 05 team, just based on the fact that it originated from the MPDHL would be beaten by an 07 EHF Elite team. That makes me think, what are you/these people smoking?

Well sir...you and I agree. The team you play on ultimately means nothing. Some will argue playing with good players pushes you to do your best, etc, but honestly...a great player... the one who has that killer instinct...he plays that way no matter what team he's on, what year he was born, or what league he plays in. If you find a coach that can bring that out in a player and push him or her to maximize their talent, then you have something. I do have to say that the 07 IHC team is nasty. They would compete against many 05 teams, not just the cane's.

Have they beat a top 20 team? Doesn't look like it.

Re: MPHL 05

At the super series in Rochester the team had 1 win, 1 overtime loss and 3 losses against elite teams. In the last two years they have beaten elite teams of the junior rangers, junior bruins, Worcester Sharks, East-coast Wizards, Seacoast Spartans all of which were E9 at one point or another. They have never been beaten by an E9 team. Team is consistently ranked in the top 15 in the state and that's what they are no more no less. Every player comes from within 20 miles of the rink and do this without drawing from any major metropolitan area. If you want to compare that to minuteman flames go ahead but it's apples and oranges. Only a moron would expect the same level of play from such drastically different demographics.

Your the moron! The Hurricanes beat the AAA teams of those programs NOT the Elite teams. Just bc they have the same name and same uniform doesn't mean it's the elite team. How many times do we have to go over this? For the record the market that you pull from is saturated with hockey players.

I can list the coaches if you need to check. Or better yet why don't you call the head coach of the 2005 hurricanes independent team for the scores and the coaches of each team. He would love to hear from you... better yet get your team to play them tough guy. This is fact..why is it so hard for you to believe. I have to agree with this poster. It is very strange to me how aggressive everyone seems to be towards this team. From reading through this post no one that seems to be from the team is making any outrageous claims, they are just saying they didn't have adequate competition in whatever halfa** league they were in. They are playing an independent schedule...so what? It doesn't seem like they are claiming to be better than anyone other than the teams that were in their league. Where is all the hate coming from?

They entered the 05 division and then 05 parity schedule got switched and most of the 05's team could no longer play. We suggested they stay in and play with 04's and they won. What an a-hole! Speak of what you know... which is not much! Love that you follow them so closely.

Re: MPHL 05

They have played 9 games so far this season and most better than the teams they played the last 2 years!! Sounds like it was a good move for their team. What do you care?
