Ya, but the Q. Its all about the Q!!!!!!
What! What do you mean we are not going?
Typical comment from a non athletic parent who most likely highest level of hockey was checking. Islanders kids will be fine.
No it's a typical comment from a parent of a big slower kid. I hear it constantly! If a kid is fast, has balance and strong on his skates, size don't matter.
Wrong wrong wrong. Its the will to compete when someone is gearing up to crush you. How they respond has nothing to do with size, speed or smarts. It is their compete level and willingness to engage.
wishful thinking. Higher levels everyone has balance, agility, edges and is strong on their skates. Look at college rosters and the size of kids. It's a big man's game.
point taken - how's that for dboard comraderie.
After another 05 post I really wish my kids stuck with wrestling in the winter.
Why does everyone in this age group chase the same small circle of kids that play hockey 10-12 months a year and are at every spring/summer tournament. Don't see any of these teams taking the next step - some go backwards. Find athletes and coach/develop them, not just hockey players.
So please explain what teams do it the correct way?
Islanders last 10 games

No mulligan my friend.
The problem with that team is that they didn't realize that grabbing a bunch of kids that were good 12 months ago and making deals to take kids you shouldn't have, just doesn't work. It is not about how a kid has played in the past, it is all about getting an athlete, who has a high ceiling because he is an athlete, and developing him over time. Yes, you may not have won years past, but the boys are in the middle of a period in their life where the athletes just go to the top. That will continue by the way. I have been through this before. It would have worked three years ago, not in the middle school years. They go in as little boys and come out as young men. Size, strength, and speed all things that will matter.
If you look at the Eagles and Flames you will see bigger, stronger, and more athletic players.
Just how it is....sorry.
Kind of creepy of you talking about middle school boys becoming men. Aren't you supposed to stay away from websites like this? Creepy!
Let's not forget the importance and emergence of "Smart" players. So many kids look good skating and shooting, but their lack of game awareness will cost you goals and games.
