This is the question to ask. My kid is also on a losing team. He doesn't really care and I don't really care. He is getting better and likes his coach and teammates. BUT the parents I hear complaining about our record all think their kids are much much better than they really are. They think our losses are the fault of all the other kids. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with their kid. I say good luck to them. Tryouts should be eye opening.
I always try to see where the team and kids are at the end of the season as compared to the beginning. If the team beats a team at the end of the season when they lost to them by 5-0 in the beginning it shows improvement....and that's all you can ask for.
Every kid is different, some kids need to be on a winning team in order to enjoy the game, others don't. Do whatever is best for your kid to keep them wanting to go to the rink. However, everything changes when the get older, you cant hold their hand forever and that's why most quit or loose the love. Good luck, its not an easy balance.
Once again, if your losing then your a loser! If kids dont care about winning, then their losers. Losing is a mind set which leads to more losing. Go back to town and play nice with those kids!
it is all about your kids development. Are the coaches and program skills, challenging him to become a better player? Maybe your team has one strong line and your playing teams that have 2-3? Is your goalie hurting your team giving up too many soft goals? There are plenty of reasons for losing and your record should not cloud your kids development.
