They cant control who showed up or dictate the schedule. Still an impressive performance and get over the rankings - after the top 7-8 it's garbage anyway.
Plus, all of the top Canadian teams (Titans, Nationals, Barrie Colts, Jr. Canadians, Toro's, Red Wings, etc.) that were there last year chose not to go. There were 3-4 decent teams this year, a far cry from last year when the tournament was loaded with the top teams from the USA and Canada.
04 group was not as strong as in years past. 2 of top 3 teams in North America were still there, and a few other elite teams, but most of the rest of the field were more like top-25 teams. Not bad but not hyper-elite.
As previous poster said, there was a SuperSeries which pulled teams + SilverSticks was also this weekend and pulled some teams.

Hyper-elite?
That is new division for youth hockey. You are AA, AAA, Elite, Hyper-Elite

For 2004s the Q is in a few weeks, so I'm sure some of the top teams passed on the Cup this year. I was surprised to see MFF 04 there.
