Re: Where they goin

Only thing that is changing is some Express teams to BHL, Bulldogs to MPDHL, Hurricanes new owner driving entire org to Bandits.

Fed at elite level still best. E9 a second option, Fed Black followed by BHL American. Everything else is a waste.

For u14 and above the MPDHL still the best option if not good enough to play in mass selects. Fed is a joke and BHL is even worse. Worse than all is the SMHL.

Not a bad thing if the MPDHL only focus back on the older kids.

This might be the silliest of silly seasons ever. MPDHL is not going anywhere. ONE Hurricanes team is going to the Bandits. New Hurricanes owner looks to be adding teams in fact.

Please at least know what you're talking about before you go spouting off. Mass Selects doesn't even have a U14 division. Most of the E9 teams and a few other historically Midget only programs kick in with Mass Selects at the U15 level. Options for U14 is still E9/BHL full and half season, FED full and half season and MPDHL by whatever name they're going by next year. U14 full season is a tough year how ever you look at it, because you typically are left with the younger half of the age group that are a still in 8th grade and freshman that aren't ready for prime time. And once you hit U16, don't expect the clubs you've been playing for to stay loyal just because you were in the youth ranks. Every varsity player from D3 Public to D1 Prep that aren't playing in a fall Prep League, will be vying for these half season spots on teams that now span 2 birth years, not the one birth year youth model that has allowed parental expectations in this area to go haywire. With that in mind, you should be extremely happy if your kid can make a team in any one of these leagues mentioned above, because the only other alternative you'd have left is town midgets.

This would have been accurate a year ago.

Both the FED and the E9 are adding U15 this season. Those FED teams are branded USPHL. The E9 are calling the league E9 Showcase, whatever that means.

FED U15 looking to do both full and 1/2 with teams in the USPHL as well as mass select for certain orgs (IHC)

Also, E9 brass is trying to force E9 teams that traditionally move to Mass Select for Midget to stay or get their youth programs booted. Also look for Full Season U15 and U16 from org like Warriors in the E9 in 2018-19.

E9 will be doing a north/south travel/showcase partnership with AYHL teams as well as 2 E9 teams added to T1EHL.

Most Fed teams were already fielding a second U16 team that was primarily U15. Not really a change except maybe now those teams can have a few more competitive games instead of getting spanked by the true U16 teams. Any E9/BHL U15 and above teams would be strictly money makers and make up for the Mass Select U16 Tier 2 that has faded away the last few years. Don't see anyone leaving Mass Select and going backwards. They will continue to be the Tier 1 teams for those programs, and any U16/U18 teams in the E9/BHL will be the second Tier teams. Definitely would provide Midget age kids with a few more options, but as usual, any changes bring made aren't for the betterment of your kids, it's once again all about the money!

Re: Where they goin

Interesting. My son's MPDHL U14 spanked every Fed and E9 team they played. Warriors and BA only good teams this year. Now that your kid has a little hair on his vag you may want to get rid of your E9 tattoo. Sorry your kid couldn't make the Fed as a youth player and sorry he can't make the Mass Selects as a U15 or U16.

Previous poster accurate with the league rankings for U14 and above. Fed and E9 not even in the picture. If your kiddie is playing there at U14 and above he's not very good.

Chest pounding is not allowed once your kid hits U14. No one cares. And it would really be sad if your kid is a 9th grade full season U14 player and you're pounding your chest about him beating up on the 8th grade holdovers and pick ups. If he's a half season, go to the High School board and let us know you have a freshman phenom who's destined for great things.

Re: Where they goin

That's strange because the half season E9 U14 teams were loaded with talent?! Lots of good prep school players and players from top EHF teams spread across the league?! Get a clue !
