Re: Q results?

You
SSK also lost yesterday. Not a great start. Let's hope they can bounce back. Both SSK and IHC playing their second games today. Win or go home!

Win or go home? Really?
That's the format - a team is only guaranteed two games. You lose the second and you are out! No round-robin deal. Tough tournament.

Re: Q results?

Fed should create 2 teams for the Q - essentially all star teams. Let them play an independent schedule similar to the Honeybaked of the world where they play top top teams and more tournaments. It would reduce the chase for the Q teams which ruins the Fed in my opinion. Top players and those that don't mind the travel can play on designated Q teams. It would then create much more parity in the Fed at Pee Wee/Bantam levels and reduce the massive amount of movement seen at Pee Wee Minor levels. The league has become overly top heavy.

Re: Q results?

Agree. They can call the All-star team - 'Boston Mission 2.0'

Why would they do this? The Q is supposed to be standard winter teams and not all star teams (although some teams like the Long Island Stars are a collection of players). The Fed teams have done well in the past with the 00 Flames winning the tournament and the 02 Breakers making the semifinals. No need to change anything.

The LI Stars are usually made up with a bunch of Fed players who know their team wont qualify, Little Caesar is the best players in Detroit and Burnaby is the best players in British Columbia etc, the 00 Flame accomplishment was very impressive, the Breakers got a nice draw in the loser bracket

the Kings may be done so quick this year they wont get to the Ice Hotel

Re: Q results?

If Islanders and Kings both win today, they play Thursday in an elimination game. That kind of stinks, especially since the Kings already played MFF.

But losing your first game is the key to success. Both the Kings and Islanders have a relatively easy road to the semi-final, at least compared to the teams in the winner's bracket. Not easy, but relatively easy in that they don't have to get past MFF, Florida Alliance, Honeybaked, Burnaby WC, CYA, all the top teams in the tournament.

The Islanders next game might be their toughest remaining against a Slovakia team that played Florida Alliance pretty tough. After that, if they can get by the Kings, the road gets easier.

A team from Arizona ran the loser bracket to win the whole thing 2 years ago, winners beat each other up losers coast something to be said for losing game one

Re: Q results?

Both SSK and IHC got tough draw. No reason why committee should have paired SSK/MFF for opening round. Ridiculous.

IHC to have to go through FL Alliance, then HMS is a tough draw. HMS is good.

Either way, while I'm not sure about Fed teams, most teams are committed to staying all 10 days and have plenty of other good exhibitions lined up - plus can squeeze in all the ice fishing, ice hoteling, tubing and pond hockey they want.

It's a pain the butt, and uber-expensive, but my kid still says it was the best experience he had in his time playing youth hockey.

Re: Q results?

My kid liked the Jingle Bell skate and $10.00 in the arcade, but to each their own.

You get two exhibition games and a practice to go with your 2 game minimum in the tournament, the 10 night minimum depends on where you stay

It's a beautiful city and a great experience

Kind of true. LI Stars this year carried only 2 Fed players. Mostly CT/NY/NJ kids picked on a tryout. Little Caesars winter team plays under Detroit Red Wings, not an all-star team. But New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, and Adirondack Wings are all tryout teams not winter teams. And who knows how the teams from Quebec are assembled. One could argue Florida Alliance is also a tryout "all-star" team as well.

I find it riveting that there are people out there that care so passionately about PeeWee Hockey. What a minute...let me rephrase that. How about...Grown men living vicariously through the lives of other people's 12 year old kids is a bit unnerving. I think somebody needs to take the family up North next week for a nice family ski and snow board get away and stop obsessing about how someone else's 12 year old is faring in a youth hockey tournement.

Because you're not smart enough to know you have to get international service on your phone when you cross the border into Canada, so if you were actually there you wouldn't be on the D-Board acting like D-Bag.

Let's make a deal: I'll go on that skiing trip you recommended, but while I'm there you have to reflect on why you are so angry about other kids and parents traveling to Quebec to play in a hockey tournament.

Definitely 'ski trip guy' and 'anti-brick guy.' Basically his Bender is low level on whatever team he is on. Never gets a look for anything at tryouts, never gets a call to play in spring tournaments, strokes the check every year and is now realizing its all for nothing. His rage and jealousy can't be contained anymore so he heads to the DBoard.

Does it matter how you get to the final? Do they have a different trophy for the team coming out of the loser's side? Fact of the matter is both sides are fighting for a spot in the final game, and one of the Mass teams is going to make it within a couple of wins of the final.

Who gives a crap. Do you think Arizona Bobcats say "Hey we won the Q but came out of the losers bracket"?

Arizona 2 years ago is a great example of why this format sucks, Detroit had to play the best of the best to get to the final like Burnaby while AZ got stiffs including the Breakers

You get rewarded for losing game 1 if your an average team something for you 05 and younger bender dads to ponder

On a flip side, we are sure that at least one team representing New England hockey will advance after IHC and SSK meet.

That's right, Boston area team guaranteed to advance to quarterfinals. That's top 8 out of a field of 32, with 14 of the top 17 US teams part of that field.

Stop getting excited about losers beating losers, when the Flames won in 2013 they ran the winners table and beat the eagles from the loser side

Nothing more pathetic than a full grown man crapping on little kids!

How can you find fault in that accomplishment ?

Re: Q results?

Someone said game between IHC and SSK is at 3 pm. Is that Canadian time or American time?

I believe it is the Newfie/Maritime province time. There is a formula for figuring out the time difference but I cannot remember what it is.

Re: Q results?

Its Canadian time, you have to convert it to the metric system.

If I am the Junior LA Kings I feel pretty good about the effort, champion of the loser bracket and play the best the tournament has to a 1-0 game not bad for a new to youth hockey market

Comical that the Fed website is taking credit for the Mid Fairfield win, they are a part time team that destroys everybody in the league yet the commish says that's our boys!

They don't even use a EHF bid to qualify

6 or 7 Brick players on that roster, should have rolled right? How quickly that star fades.

Re: Q results?

You guys are just mad because these kids bigger and more athletic than the clowns posting on here.

Evidently being big isn't enough anymore. Need to be big and be able to skate and move the puck.

That's the difference between developing players and courting them from other programs.

Wow. You sound like a real piece of work. I actually feel sorry for your wife and kids if they have to put up with that attitude. I'm guessing your not up in Quebec are you. Enjoy watching your kids practices and local games.

He's an RG surrogate.

Re: Q results?

If you are a New England parent, player, coach or an observer and you are not just rooting for these kids to do well up there, then you need to take a long look in the mirror. You should get your kid out of sports all together because you are in it for all the wrong reasons.

To your point, sir, I have a friend in his mid 50s, a hockey guy, loves the sport, who still fondly reminisces about the time when his team went to the Q in 1970s, I believe, he said in 1975, and actually won the whole thing in a hard fought and dramatic fashion! Nobody can take away those memories. It is definitely very exciting and fun to be there for both the players and the families.

Your comment is simply stupid! He actually went to UNH and had an outstanding college hockey career there if you must know.
