It seems that some national bound teams are following the new rule about tryout dates and others are not. Will it make the teams ineligible for state or national tournament if tryouts are held to early?
I remember wondering last year how Mid Fairfield announced their teams so early last year.
They're not just doing that under the radar are they? Seems a club that's strong Squirt-through-Bantams would risk missing Nationals. Gotta be another loophole somewhere.
Not a loophole, just not a rule nationally until this year for national tournament bound teams....which has been left up to the affiliates to enforce.
What is the rule?
Rule has always been in place. Cannot hold tryouts until after nationals are done.
The rule was put in place last summer for the 2017-2018 season. Tryouts need to be 48hrs after last national game.
It's a joke - USA Hockey and their rules.
Org's pick and choose what "rules" to follow.
If every org followed the rules, 1/2 the coaches and others wouldn't be on the bench or ice to begin with.
So, when it comes to USA hockey rules - understand that almost any rule has been broken many times.
USA Hockey is another money grab, pure and simple.
