Re: Elite "9?"

Anon
The Elite "9" just finished up parity.... Any idea why the 2004 + 2005 Divisions each have 10 teams in the division, and the 2009 Division has 8 teams?

Not trolling, just curious....

They should be able to make it anywhere from the elite 8 to the elite 12, just to keep the parity even.

The 2005 could have either had 12 teams or remove some of the auto bid teams to get it to 9 or ten, but that will never happen. In the end you end up with the four final teams vying for two spots, when all four of those teams are better than teams there, and the two teams that didn't make it are better than the teams that did or at least equal.

It makes the BHL American top heavy and the bottom of BHL very very bad !

Mainly because these Birth years are pretty even across a bunch of teams. Not such a drop off from the top 2-3 teams like the 06-09 group so made the smart decision to have more teams in the top division.

Believe the Rifles angled for autobids across the board so that's why you saw many divisions with only 2 play in spots.

They're better off with an even number anyway so each team can play two games per weekend without at least one team having to play three.

Re: Elite "9?"

The original charter members of the E9 are Advantage, Seacoast, Jr RAngers, VJW, Avalanche, and Wizards or 6 teams. This year Patriots became charter members. That makes 7 charter members now. Most of the older groups joined league with expectations of three spots open. Rifles got an automatic bid in a lot of age groups. In the 2004 age group Jr Rangers were not competitive last year and had to play in this year. So really it's 7 charter teams with 3 play ins with the addition of Assabet this year. Not sure what will happen with Jr Rangers/Rifles going forward.

Hopefully they keep it at 10 because BHL American is not as competitive as years past and any team that is just out of the E9 mix will not like beating the BHL American teams next year by large margins.

Re: Elite "9?"

Seacoast is not a deep team and the Islanders took their best player from last year. They beat them 7-4 last year in the same super series so this years results should not be surprising. What is surprising is that IHC had their pick of any E9 team to play and they selected Seacoast 2 years in a row. And yes, they do pick and choose who they want to play.

Best part is IHC picked the 4th best team in the E9 to play when they could have played VJW or even BA. Blew them out as expected. Cheers to IHC. They sure did struggle against the Fire, NJ Titans and NJ Colonials. Beat a tired Saints team. They are always ducking the local competition outside of EHF. Team is a fraud and a wannabe in the MYHOCKEY rankings.

Re: Elite "9?"

Gallant won't allow IHC to play any VJR team at any level and convinces other EHF teams to follow suit. Been like that for past few years. More to do with an ownership envy than anything else. It's a $$$$ thing. Get used to it

This is old news man, we have been through this. The E9 didn't have the best superseries. In truth, the Fed Elite teams cuckolded them.

BUT, in fairness I have heard a lot of decent excuses like: e9 teams were tired, Fed teams handpicked their opponents, guy doing the skates at the rink was terrible.

So draw your own conclusions.

Making excuses is not a good look.

I think the fact that your world view appears to be 30 years outdated says it all about what you bring to the table. But I'm sure your hockey opinions are valuable. Pick up a newspaper, will you?

There's never E9 parents on here. Definitely none "making excuses." Only EHF parents beating their chests about a youth hockey league. Truly bizarre behavior. If you know anything about it, EHF recruits and cherry-picks the best E9 players, offers zero and half-tuitions. E9 teams don't have the pockets to do any of that. EHF doesn't "develop" players any more than a your standard little league "develops" college baseball players. It gives them a decent place to play. The comments on here about leagues are truly bizarre.

I am a dad of an IHC Elite player and I approve of this message.
