Tis the season.....

It's about that time folks....

We should all be enjoying our kids' season as it hits the midway point. We should all be preparing our taste buds for some delicious turkey, and for the coming holiday season's good vibes and well wishes.....

BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO

Every rink in Mass has that one mopey dad; bringing his negative vibes to the rink. You know the one, the guy who's kid is getting short shifted, not playing PP nor PK, and getting benched in the 3rd. After 3 months of wall to wall hockey, he's become frustrated with the coach, fed up with parents, and even mad at the other kids on the team. C'mon you know the dad.... he's on every team. He's already wondering about a 2018-19 contract offer. He's talking crap about other kids, and he's already approached the coach about Johnny riding the pine.

If this is you: take a look at your kid, and ask yourself what he (or she) could do better. Challenge your kid to stop complaining and maybe stop being a brat in practice. Tell your kid to take criticism constructively, tell him to not be so defensive when coach or other kids try and help him. Tell him to just enjoy the ice and smile for a change.

BTW... There's a direct correlation between dad moping around the rink, and the Johnny moping on the ice.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Happy Holidays! Hope your kid doesn't get cut! Stay positive! Its too early to worry about that nonsense!

Re: Tis the season.....

We have a mom/dad combo. Kid is lazy and targets teammates in the locker room. Apples don't fall far.....

So true... every rink has these types. This is about the time of the season they start making themselves known.

We have two goalies , one goalies parents are quite and as normal as goalie parents can be. Other goalies dad is nuts, when his kid plays the kids give up 40-50 shots per game. When the other kid plays we barely give up 15. So if we win 6-4 with his kid in net we give up 44 shots. We win 6-4 with other goalie in net we give up 14 shots.

Same dad has already started asking who has been offered a contract for next year. Gotta love the youth hockey life.

Patrick Roy has a brother who was a very good position player (NHL 2nd round pick) . Their parents said watching Patrick's brother was always a joy and with Patrick the games could not be over quickly enough! Maybe the best goalie of all time and his parents dreaded it. Being a goalie is difficult being a goalie parent painful at times!

Not following your logic. Why would a team give up 3+x more shots because of the goalie dad?

Goalie dad likes to claim his kid stops 40 shots a game, while the other goalie lets in same amount of goals on far less shots. Basically his kid is a stud and the other kid is a sieve.

Re: Tis the season.....

Yup.... bottom of our roster is suddenly missing at practice. Pretty sure they're already looking for next season's landing spot.
