Does anybody else find it jacked up that somebody "owns" youth hockey teams and programs? Nobody should own a kid's sport, it should belong to the people (the kids).

You buy entrance to a league if you are not in it already, if, and that is a big if, they let you in. The only programs to be bought are the ones who own their own rinks. Now you have an asset. You also need capital. Ironically, the capitals don’t have that. They have debt baddie to the shrinking number of teams year over year.

Lovell’s actually one of the few programs around that don’t own their assets but have many, many teams. Even if he would sell (which he wouldn’t) Buying them gets you nothing as players would just go down the street and start a new team and all the loyalists would follow.

So in 2 weeks the Rats are taking over NESV (even though Lovell has 10 year iron clad contract) and now the Caps (sorry, chuckled to myself writing that) are buying a Lovell program not valued at anything as all those players would head to Hingham or Raynham....typical acquisition is 5x earnings or 2.x revenues. So Caps are paying $1M for Giants. Good one.

I know most hockey folks are as sharp as a pillow but come on with this idiocracy. At least come up with a believable rumor.

Are they alternates from the E9? If so then its perfectly legit. Can't imagine a coach is that stupid to have a full-time EHF player from another team.

CAPs, Kings, BSB, BJT and Bandits...movements within these organizations and BA as well...Again...alot of talking going on...

06 MMF are all trying to leave but BJE and IHC can each only take one so it is a mad scramble to get to those teams for Q reasons and complete dysfunction at MMF

Non elite here - I've heard the Q drives a lot of players to certain coaches teams, couple years ago it was the 06 MMF. What's the deal here are the MMF not have a team coming entering but IHC and BJE do? The MMF have the best win % in Fed Elite right now and seem to be in a good spot?

Certain teams hit a tipping point. Even with a great record and ranking, there are a number of factors that finally implode the team.

Coaching methods, Daddy coaches, kids with attitudes, locker room issues, insane parents, poor ownership...etc.

Trying to wade through your gibberish to answer -

BJE (Not BJT) has the highest win % at 06. Yes, a few years ago MMF was the place to be but that could be attributed to moving kids around for the brick. Now that kids are growing other teams are starting to rise. Along with BJE, IHC looks like a place to try and get to for the Q year.

MMF is still a good team but there seems to be more questions about who they may loose as parents jump to put their kid in a better position to go the the Q.

We're 6 days into February and if you talk to crazy hockey parents it's like free agency started already. Lot's of tampering, back door deals for next year etc. In the grand scheme of things it's pretty silly - but for those living in the moment (through their kid) it's a weekly drama. It really is only youth hockey (says the guy posting at 9 AM on the Dboard).

Why would everyone look to leave the 06 MMF? They can get into the Q just by winning their games early on next year...something like the first 10 games (Top 4 teams Im pretty sure)...why the mad rush to exit that team...unless its something else like coaching issues, Locker room drama...etc...Alot of teams that make the Q early aren't as good middle of the season and will get smoked once they get up there...The 05 BJT are a prime example this year...they are a sub .500 team at best and can't beat SSK, TG and BSB...all Non Q teams...Its just an expensive vacation for them at this point...

Is the 06 year a strong year for New England Hockey or just overall for MMF, I mean all of their teams in 06 are in the top 3 in their divisions with 20+Wins and only 4 or 5 losses? Seems to be the strongest overall program around?

Honestly, 06 is not as strong as the 08's (they're stacked).

Not sure what you're seeing - IHC second in Black with no MMF teams. MMF top in white but 2 IHC teams round out top 4. Nice work for MMF in Silver - but I think only parents with kids in silver follow silver.

Not sure if 06 is a strong year but your conclusion that MMF is very deep at that birth year based on selected data doesn't stand on its own.

Yes no team this year in Black but Elite top 3, White top 3, Silver top 3, even EMHL is top 3

The most consistent (stronger) 06 teams are the MMF, BJE and IHC. These teams have generally had the strongest programs over the last 5-6 years...SSK and BJT have had their moments, but not the year to year consistency that these teams have had. These teams are able pick players from a larger geographical area than say SSK and BJT, hence you get the pick of the litter if you will based on available skillsets of the players. All programs are run very well from what Ive seen over the years so alot of these kids dont move around too much on their own accord. However, parity will take over pretty soon for the 06 age group and then kids will tend to migrate towards better coaching staffs and programs that have U14, U15, U16, U18 (Both full and half seasons) etc, as they begin to navigate towards Prep, HS, Jrs etc...

What 08 moves are in the works? Aren't they stacked???

Maybe... but with the exception of the 05 and 08 Birth year, from mite minor to bantam minor, IHC is in the top 3 for EHF Elite. Perhaps you're the moron?

As a dad in the 2008 Elite division who plays all of these teams........ The BJE and MMF are not looking at the IHC for "top talent."

They will more than likely take someones top kids, just not the Islanders.

The 08 division cracks me up. You do know at this age kids get bypassed all the time. Some just started skating a couple of years ago. Maybe your coach should do a better job developing instead of just looking for "studs" cause there is no such thing as an 08 stud. Just get him carrying his own bag and tying his own skates please...and no roller bags
