Re: Caps/Friars?

Here is the problem with that analogy, nobody wants to play on second teams. So if the Caps force Friar players to play on the caps second team, they have to go play out of the crapy rink in Pawtucket, second what do ms care he makes 200 per player so its just a money grap for him and he doesnt have to do any work. Lastly there are enough suckers in RI to pay all that money just to say they play in a AA organization that is called AAA which is marketing genius on the part of EHF.
Its sad that people make a living off of hard working people just to play a sport, I could see if the players are getting better but anyone who has seen HS hockey in RI its actually getting worst.

Re: Caps/Friars?

MS always called the shots at the Friars. No difference.

Re: Caps/Friars?

MS tried to call the shots for the Friars. Didn't happen and parents didn't want to pay 1000 more for Tier 1 or even the bad Caps Elite teams. People stayed with Friars and that's why the Caps Tier 1 teams are so bad... they would lose to B level teams (minus a few decent T1 teams)

That's why he needs to do this. All under 1 umbrella and control who plays on what Chartreuse level T1 team Fed makes up next.

Basically he's taking out the middle man.

Where is DF when you need him. At least he was an owner with a conscious... well personable at the very least!

Re: Caps/Friars?

Former owners of the Friars: Please apologize to all families in the state. We are truly ****** but more disappointed. We thought you were going to be something special.

I'm a shamed my kid loves your logo. This weekend I will breakdown and explain to him that the team he loves will be no more.

Get out while you can. Those teams are going to dry up fast with the best kids getting moved around. I know they say thats not the case but already had one coach tell me his 2 best kids form Cranston going to 146 team.

As we know rink rumors are flying this time of year. Heard from multiple people that the Friars org will now fold into the Caps permanently. Seems to make sense, friars have zero info on tryouts and website has not been updated in months. Also will give MS another rink and now he controls where the Friars kids go (Caps T1 teams are weak and Friars are decent). What say you DBoarders???
It's official!

February 11, 2018

Dear Membership of the Providence Capitals, Providence Friars and Woonsocket North Stars:

We are excited to announce that our three premier organizations have joined to create the Providence Hockey Club for the 2018-19 Season. We believe the merger will provide the best development model in New England and a better experience to all of our members. We are now fully aligned, with one goal, which is to provide a great development experience.

This alliance will offer a premier development model to all Rhode Island and southern New England hockey players. Players will be participating from LTS through Midgets, state league through Elite EHF levels allowing every player to play and develop at their own pace. With five prime rink locations at Cranston Veterans, Providence College, RI Sports Center (N. Smithfield), Lynch Arena (Pawtucket) and Mt St. Charles (Woonsocket) this will make for easy and convenient access for our families. The RISC and Lynch rinks are owner operated. Teams will participate in the Eastern Hockey Federation (EHF), Eastern Minor Hockey League (EMHL) and the Southern New England Hockey Conference (SNEHC) - Midget teams will play in the newly merged EHF/Selects League.

We understand as hockey families, we take a lot of pride in the organizations we represent and change is never easy. We understand the three organizations have long histories and traditions of developing great hockey players and connecting people, establishing incredible relationships. We are not taking the responsibility of continuing these traditions lightly. It is our focus to maintain the integrity of the existing teams and there will be minimal changes with our team offering and coaches for next year. The Coaches will continue to evaluate their teams and prepare for the tryout process in March.

This evening we have hosted the coaching staff from the three organizations and equipped them with the information they need to address all of your questions and concerns. We have provided an FAQ on each website that may answer a lot of questions that you may have. We will continue to operate the three programs in a similar fashion continuing to be overseen by the existing Program Directors but now united as the Providence Hockey Club.
